Re: Playoff chances

I think some of these players in our minor league system probably exist for the purpose of being traded. Zach Deloach is at the top of the list for me. I think they'll send him to AA in the next couple of weeks and if he does well there, he'll be on everyone's top 100 list in the offseason, maybe to...

Re: Draft pick strategy

Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB For #Mariners, here's where their draftees will fit into my Top 50. 6) Harry Ford 13) Edwin Arroyo 19) Michael Morales 20) Bryce Miller This is where the top prospect lists kind of lose me. I sort of get putting your first round pick in their somewhere, but there's literally...

Re: Manfred Comments.

I wouldn't mind a pitch clock to keep the Justus Sheffields of the league moving things along. And I would ban the shift probably. And stop fucking around with the ball.

Re: Draft pick strategy

I have to ask what made you pick him to us in the contest? I had heard his name floated an Hunter hinting they "might" go HS but I was pretty surprised they did. I took that quote from Hunter as meaning they were leaning heavily towards a High School player, and I knew from something Joe Doyle said...

Re: Draft pick strategy

He is the same lottery ticket as the international talent is every year. With exception of spending more time with player He's a bit older but that's a reasonable comparison. The question is, when is it appropriate or wise to go for the lottery ticket upside vs. the more skilled, lower-ceiling pros...

Re: Draft pick strategy

I like this draft strategy this year, but I don't think it's one they should do every year. Statistically, in any given draft year, most of the players drafted, even in the first round, don't have significant major league careers. And of the ones that do, most of those are drafted out of college. It...

Re: Official MLB Draft Day thread

Getting back to Harry Ford, I was looking at some video on the Perfect Game site, and the swing is a mess. The bat speed is obvious though. The video is probably a year old. Here's the URL: https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=477275 You can look up other players, like Brady Hou...

Re: Official MLB Draft Day thread

I hate that these senior signs get the shaft. Seems so unfair.

Re: Official MLB Draft Day thread

Michael Morales, a high school arm, in rd. 3. Projectable arm. Vanderbilt commit so I wonder if he'll sign. I'm tuning out now since we're getting into these obscure names. I'll check back later.

Yeah I get that to an extent but then I look at this and am left wanting. Did Ford face that much better pitching than House and Watson???
Don't know but probably this is why his bat wasn't talked about as much as his overall athletic profile.
