In some ways I think platooning a player can be damaging if you're not a player who is used to sitting on the bench. I imagine it can disrupt rhythm getting so few at bats. It's not like they ever platooned him in the minors... Kelenic seemed to play his best when he was playing everyday for the M'...

109 PAs vs. RHPs and 3 vs. LHPs. So even with almost zero exposure to LHPs he isn't a viable MLB hitter. I would think that platooning someone usually means they have a limited skill set, and/or significant deficiencies. I know Jerry is all hot to trot about platoons - perhaps to "keep guys fresh"....
