Re: One of The Greatest Hitting Achievements!

I wonder if he had a "Two Strike Mode" he could shift into, just to defend the strike zone with and to put the ball in play. I'll bet [without looking yet] that he had more sac flys than your average bear. [edit]..looks like they didn't start counting sac flys until his career was half over. IIRC......

Re: Lowest career BA to go with 100 HRs

I remember both Earl Wilson and Mike Hampton well. The guy [pitcher] who could really hit and he did it consistently over a pretty long career was Terry Forster. A guy who was an all NCAA DH and great college pitcher was Tim Lollar. I thought he was headed for stardom as a MLB pitcher but his career...

Re: Lowest career BA to go with 100 HRs

That near HOF guy was the great Cecil Cooper, one of Boston’s worst trades, hit .298 lifetime, with eight .300 seasons. About Mathis, gotta admire a guy who was so awful, Consistently, but has managed to hang on. Even though Ted Simmon's best years didn't overlap with the Gorman Thomas Brewers, he'...

Re: Lowest career BA to go with 100 HRs

Good detective work..! Dave Duncan is a name I should have remembered..not so much with Mathis. I guess Mathis got more than a few chances [years] to prove that he was not worthy of that $500K minimum. Speaking of Mathis, a Strange career, 15 straight years of horrid hitting, yet he’s received $19 ...

If you include pitchers and lower the standard to 20 HRs you have Milt Pappas who hit .123 with 20 HRs.
Maybe Milt Pappas was Zunino's Idol when he was a kid...?

Lowest career BA to go with 100 HRs

I think we might have a winner..well sort of. Zunino just hit HR # 104 last year and his career BA stands at .202 now. Go find me anybody with a lower career BA and at least 100 HRs. I've already looked at ... Rob deer....230 HR......220 BA Joey Gallo ....110 HR......212 BA Steve Yeager......102 HR....

Re: I guess Vogey couldn't hit in the second half because of this

Hitting against [and failing against] Left handed pitching could have helped to erode his overall confidence and ability to get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep as well. He is pretty close to being a valuable player..if only he would commit himself to getting into better shape and if his management is...

Re: Cole wears a Boras hat in interview after game 7.

Very few teams have won 100 games 3 years in a row. Very few [of these dynasty teams] were anchored with a younger core group of hitters who could score 5.5 runs per game. If I was a pitcher, I'd love to pitch for Houston..even though they play in a HR Hitter's Paradise. I question Gerrit Cole's mot...

Re: Cole wears a Boras hat in interview after game 7.

He literally took off his Houston hat and put on a hat with the Boras Agency Logo on it and then told reporters that he was no longer an employee of the Astros. This was in the Locker room immediately after the game. WOW..! This should DECREASE HIS VALUE...but in our mentally ill society where valu...
