Potential Blockbuster Trade
Potential Blockbuster Trade
Kyle Seager + Omar Narvaez to the Brewers.
People can say Seager is untradeable all they want, but if he were to be packaged with a guy like Narvaez to the Brewers, it's one move that would replace Moustakas/Grandal, at a DISCOUNT and may actually out-produce them.
The Mariners may have to add in some money, but as in the Cano trade that would likely bring one or two of the Brewers top 10 prospects into the conversation.

okay, so does that help the Mariners win sooner?...
Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
Win sooner, perhaps not. But it doesnt push our timeline back at all, clears payroll and adds more prospect depth by trading away a veteran and from a position of depth.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 11:15 amokay, so does that help the Mariners win sooner?...and yeah they probably have to sweeten the deal since the Brewers could probably resign Moustakas for a lot less than what Seager is owed
The Brewers, or any team, couldn't fill catcher and 3B with that quality of players for less money in free agency.
Even if they get lucky and re-sign Moose and Grandal, it would still be more expensive than Seager+Narvaez.
Of course, we could just sit on Seager and let his contract expire with no return like we did Felix.

Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
or they could try and win with Seager, that is if we are trying to win sooner...I am not against it, i am not against signing Wheeler, I am just trying to figure out the strategy...You talked about trying to win soon with Wheeler, wondered how that fit with trading Seager.
Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
If they're not going to try and get good pitchers, Cole/Wheeler level talent- then they should trade away whatever short term talent we have because we won't be winning any time soon without TOR pitching added.
Either buy. Or sell. They need to pick, can't waste years.

The Brewers have the worst system in baseball right now, Maybe ever.bpj wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 11:34 amIf they're not going to try and get good pitchers, Cole/Wheeler level talent- then they should trade away whatever short term talent we have because we won't be winning any time soon without TOR pitching added.

They have 1 top 100 prospect when the average club should have 3 and 1/3rd.
That lone top 100 was a guy they drafted last year and put up this line: (#98)
.256 .367 .340 .707

Absolutely.... Seager and Narvaez are not keys to the future.... but there are much better trade partners than the Brewers.... Also the market is flooded with thirdbasemen this year....
Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
I didnt see many teams needing a 3B and a Catcher, and imo it may be easier and with a better return to package Seager with a guy like Narvaez, similar to Cano+Diaz, but if they're not going to try and win, they need to trade some of these guys before they just end up fading and walking like Felix. It's now or never with Seager in particular. Try and win or trade him.
Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
A 3-team trade with the Brewers parting with some relief pitching could still be a possibility, even if Dipoto couldn't find some value in their system.
Re: Potential Blockbuster Trade
Narvaez+Haniger to the Padres could bring an amazing return.
