While Carlson did cross my mind...I'll be honest. I'll believe it when I see it. So that's why I left him off my post. But let's hope he starts by just getting and staying on the field for now.

Yeah, I won't get worked up over his stats one way or the other. I want to see him healthy, and see how strong his arm is.

I really want the Mariners to find a closer with the initials CC. Austin Adams in the 7th, Brandon Brennan in the 8th, and CC in the 9th. A^2 +B^2 = C^2. The 8th grade math dork in me would be really pleased with that... until I realized they suck then Id get over it.

After a thorough search, the guys I found with initial CC all suck. The best bet might be to convert Charlie Culbertson to pitcher who is an OF, but pitched 2 scoreless innings for the Braves this last year.

That's not perusing through minor league options though

I actually have some hope for Logan Gilbert, but I'd still never waste a top pick in the draft on a pitcher.....never, ever....

Difference is you won't be fired if they don't make the playoffs in 2021 so I can understand JD going with a guy that will be in the rotation mid 2020 with ace potential vs. a kid that probably won't be on the scene until 2022.
