This much is certain and I hope its true Gordon will be gone but the Mariners will either have to give up a prospect to make the deal palatable or just a butt load of cash!!!!
They just need to bite the bullet and DFA him.

The fact that 29 other teams dont want him is all the evidence they should need.

They refuse to let him go, even though everybody knows that Shed Long would put up better overall numbers as the 2B.

So what's the point of having him, other than squeezing some misguided value out of the dollars owed? They're wasting innings on him instead of Long, Nola, or Dylan Moore.

Neidert could be in the Marlin rotation next season...wonder what the Mariners would look like if one were to just unwind all those trades

I'm 100% sure Dipoto hosed us out of the playoffs his first year here.

Couple world series, I dont know, but we would have made it to the playoffs that year.

I think he knew that we weren't going to do much in the playoffs and that by making a push for that would've delayed the competitive window that we are currently headed towards right now in 2021.

In this case, by doing nothing is something.

sure, Walker is a great target, he is going to get a lot of attention around the league, a top tier pitcher that has suffered through two seasons of injuries, assume it comes down to the best offer...
He has pitched in parts of 7 seasons, the equivalent of 3 full season season and put up 6 WAR. I would give he second tier but not top tier. Cole put up 7.4 WAR this season. It will take Walker 8 seasons to do that.

he was considered a top prospect, the point is there is a fairly wide range there between where he is now in terms of cost and a possible upside...

from why the Yankees should go after him
Walker is the definition of a cost-efficient move, as it would cost around $2-4 million to have him at most, and his upside could be enormous. He was a top prospect for a reason, the potential for a quality starter has always been there. He has injury issues, but that 3.49 ERA in 2017 at Chase Field shows that he can be dominant.

Here is my question....if Walker is ready to go come spring why was he non-tendered by Arizona, who need pitching as much as anyone?

not sure if he would be ready to go or not, he hardly pitched in two seasons, they non tendered him to save the $5 mil it was expected to cost. A team is going to give him a contract, but there is certainly not guarantee what you are going to get. Your signing him for $2-4 mil and rolling the dice
