I have the perfect one. Think someone who was great as a rookie, then flamed out quickly and was suddenly out of baseball altogether within a year or two. Who in Mariner lore more.perfectly embodied that than Mickey Brantley.
Good one. It’s like he just vanished into the ether after one good season. I remember thinking for part of a season that between him, Phil Bradley and Alvin we were going to have something special, but that dream fell apart quicker than you can say Lee Guetterman.

I’ll see you that and raise you a Brian Holman.
Well Holman blew out his arm....so I don't consider him a true flash in the pan....No the true Mariner flash in the pan is none other than Mike Parrot. In 1979, he was 14-12 with 3.77 ERA and 5.1WAR in the old Configuration of the Kingdome. The next year he is 1-16 with a 7.28 ERA and -2.4 WAR

Same here, he came in and put up a WAR600 of 2.0

An average or better player. At 1B that would have been a big deal for us.

Tossed aside like yesterday's lunch for a long line of terrible 1B. Well, after Sexsons first year of course..

That was him...Joel Pinero.
For me he was the greatest middle reliever we ever had.
Our starting pitchers were so terrible...in came Joel Pinero to stop the bleeding.
Where is a Joel Pinero today? We don't have one.
We are slowing starting to form a decent bullpen but no sure closers in sight.
Really frustrating.
He started 185 games and only pitched in relief 37 times for us.

Dan Howett. He hit the last home run off Nolan Ryan. Nolan then retired and Dan might as well have too.

Dann Howitt hit a Grand Slam, I was there.

Dann might be the only major leaguer named Dann!

How could you not love Bucky
I did a bit with Jen Mueller at Fanfest, and saved and submitted it when they were taking auditions for an analyst(i.e. Aaron Goldsmith). Anyways I'm with Buck up in the cages doing softball batting drills and showed him the footage, he goes, "Wow! Dude you belong on TV!" It meant a lot, but I knew I had no shot as I didnt have a resume nor the credentials to be qualified for the position. But man, that take was fresh! Jen said she was impressed afterward. That was good enough for me.

...and you know because of that, he has probably not paid for a drink in 25 years...
