its the sportswriters HOF, they are the ones voting on it, if they want to use ideology, guess its up to them. Don't like it...boycott Cooperstown?
Do you have any standards?

And if they decided to not vote for any Japanese players then its up to them.

If the game itself tolerates the idiosyncrasies of players (where such do not transcend the boundaries of the law, the rules embodied within the game, and accepted standards of social tolerance as enforced by the law) in favor of their performance, there’s no reason an institution like the HoF, which commemorates those performances, should not do the same.

I gave up on the HOF doing anything right when a committee put together to honor the Negro League managed to screw it up by screwing over Buck O'Neill. (As an aside, to get yourself through the winter, I'd highly suggest getting a copy of "The Soul of Baseball" by Joe Poznaski, which details his friendship with O'Neill)
As for the cheaters, I'd say we vote in the cheaters who would likely have made it without steroids (Bonds, Clemens, Manny etc.) as well as Rose and Shoeless Joe, and that they also create a permanent "Hall of Shame" that covers the various scandals, cheaters and the fact that baseball's original commissioner was a screaming racist who kept Blacks out of MLB until the day he died. If the goal is to honor baseball, lets honor it in it's reality, not in some storybook fashion. Just my opinion...

Yep just like its up to Daniel Snyder to keep the name the name of his team the Redskins. If they decided to blackball Ichiro because of his race they would all be fired and rightfully so.

Only reason some of them feel safe or self righteous about black balling Schilling is because they live in a liberal bubble where their virtue signaling is rewarded and commended. No matter. He will get in this year so sanity will win the day for once.

sure, if it was 1942 probably nobody complains about not allowing japanese players in the HOF. I don't know about them feeling safe, you make it out like is some sort of cartel, they vote how they feel like voting i imagine. Since when did sports writers become this bastion of liberalism in the first place? I mean its not like they are a bunch of pin head college professors, what's up with that

Get used to it, guys. You think the PC crowd was out in force the last few years? Forget about it and enjoy your "Systemic Racism." Even Mitt Romney, if he were a ball player, would have trouble making it into the HOF with Schilling's numbers.

I know, I had no idea prior to this Schilling controversy but unbelievably I have noticed that are just about as liberal as the general media and perhaps I am more sensitive to it.
