Horror Twins invade The T-Magenta game thread ~ Mon., 6\14
Re: Horror Twins invade The T-Magenta game thread ~ Mon., 6\14
Our bullpen wins this game. SS not using Monty is helping, cannot use him again in close games. Damn this team plays so much better at home. Steck getting quick outs, not laboring he has been amazing, some big surprising relievers coming up huge for us lately, Its good to see. Baseball gods with us tonight.

STECKKKKKKKK, great to know we have backups who can help without Gravy available. Just gotta stay away from Monty, keep on repeating it but he can never be used in tight games like this, SS does his actual job tonight.

They are dead last in batting average and 2nd to last in team OPS in the majors. They hit worse than a AAA ballclub.
But they are 14-5 in 1-run games I think... We'd have the same record as the Twins if we were as bad as them in close games. And that comes down to luck a lot of the time.

Hate to wish Injury on anyone but Rays Glasnow goes out with Elbow injury tonight, looks like we wont have to worry bout him this weekend, good guy hoping not serious but not having to worry bout him is huge.

Reading an SI article, can't get it to post. It's arguing doctored balls is the big issue, the new "steroids" for pitchers. The combination of spin analysis with the application of sticky stuff has made baseballs virtually unhittable. And it's the dodgers leading the pack

It looks bad, but it is much better on paper.
Injuries
Lewis, Haniger, France, Moore, Fraley have all missed time with them added to:
Seager, Crawford, Murphy, and either Trammell or
Bauer .263-.333-.474 with us
That looks like a solid line-up where you would have expectations of players contributing vs times where there were 1 or 2 bats that were mlb average or better and then several batters with sub .500 OPS's.
Pitching has been better with Paxton, Dunn, and Marco missing time along with Gravemann, Swanson from the pen.

They're cracking down on it hard. Umps are supposed to check for substances 3x a game now.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 5:46 amReading an SI article, can't get it to post. Apparently the past week produced the lowest spin rate on baseballs thrown of any week the entire season.

The solution is simply huge fines for the players and the teams + long suspensions + loss of draft choices.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 5:46 amReading an SI article, can't get it to post. Suggests fining managers, they don't make the money players do, it actually hurt.
