FWIW, I haven't seen Sheffield since spring training, but have heard that it isn't so much a stuff issue. Obviously with current numbers it's more than one thing, but more about the intangibles, controlling the mindset, emotions, breath, tempo etc on the mound.

Hearing Justus Sheffield has been sent down to AA, Arkansas to try to get back on track. Has surrendered 23 runs, 12 walks in his last 4 games at AA

What can I say, other than...

Juliooooo, 1 HR already, and just had an RBI single in the 9th to cut the lead to 1 with 2 outs. Advances another runner to 3B. Now its down to Honeyman, who is starting to get some things going after a rough first 6 weeks, is 3/4 tonight including a solo HR. Average up from .168 to .238 in the last 5 weeks. He was a hot hitter to start last season in Rookie ball hitting .383 there.

He has an 8 pitch at bat so far. 2-2 count. Pitch 9 he grounds out to first.

But wait, there was a wild pitch somewhere in there and WV ties it up. Now going on to the bottom of the 9th.

Its control. He's always had control issues, and they are worse this year, so its probably become a mental thing. My guess is he was overcompensating his last start and left everything over the middle of the plate.

Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros beat up on the Rainiers today. Two pitchers combined to 2-hit Tacoma and coasted to a 14-0 shutout victory.
