My biggest fear is we have tried doing that with players and it's ended with epic failure (Ackley, Zunino)
Zunino was rushed Ackley wasn't.
Zunino had the benefit of playing for a team that was historically weak at catcher and who had the starting job handed to him by default. He just missed being a good MLB hitter and who knows how good he might have been with different coaching. His ability to stay hot for weeks at a time suggests to me that his problems were entirely mental.

Yeah, I'm not saying he was stupid, but without his baseball skills, he was never going to be an astro...-physicist

I don't want to rush him. Start him in AA next year then possibly move him to AAA to end the season. Maybe start him in AAA in 2021 and move him up midseason when he's 21
His dob is 12/29/2000

So if he is brought up at any point in 2020 he'll be 19 making his debut, 20 in 21, etc. IMO his age shouldn't matter. How's he performing? Period. End of analysis. You bring him up when his performance says he's ready and also in order to maximize his control. We're not burning a yr of control on JRod until 2021

My prediction is he starts in Modesto, continues to hit. Promoted to AA in early June. 3 month in AA and then a Sept Call up. Make the team out of ST 2021.

I don't see why they would start him in Modesto after what he did there to end the season and how he's played in the AFL. It would help if they did want to maximize his control I guess. Modesto for 2 months, then AA for the rest of the season, and maybe a month in AAA to start 2021. I doubt he goes back down once he's called up.

He played 17 games in Modesto. I would think they would want to give him more than 17 games at each level. I don't think they are going to worry about control given the playoff, attendance and now TV ratings droughts.

When he plays as well as he did in Modesto, then continues that into AFL against AA level talent, I think they may say he's ready for AA.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I do think at a minimum he will get a Sept call up next season.

Yeah I posted those in the bottom of the Mountain thread along with the one where JK realized the he an Julio basically had the same tweet in response to the same article. btw I can not believe that there were negative responses by some "fans" that have let the cynicism over take their sense of decency.
