I think it's very useful in that sense and completely proves your point. Mallex wasn't good in CF but is a disaster in a COF spot.bpj wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 7:29 amMallex Smith now at 95 games, .1 WAR.bpj wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 2:20 amZunino's been accumulating WAR at a rate similar to Mallex Smith because there are no positions on the field where you get WAR tossed in your lap for having a pulse like CF and C.
.2 WAR in 59 games compared to Mallex's .4 in 88.
Maybe we should play the "but he has positive WAR!" game for Zunino like these guys try to do for Mallex Smith lol.
7 games later, .3 WAR less than he had.
That's what you call "sinking like a brick".
Meanwhile, Zunino's WAR has gone from .2 WAR to .6 WAR in that same timespan.
Positional scarcity is no joke, and, as I have long contended, WAR is of little to no use in evaluating CF and C relative to other players.
Poor Mike Zunino, likeable guy.

What does “COF” stand for?

I have fantasies about Mallex not being in the lineup, yes.Bil522 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 8:28 amSecretly you have fantasies about Mallex right? You rag on him every day like a jilted lover....or an ex-wife.bpj wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 2:20 amZunino's been accumulating WAR at a rate similar to Mallex Smith because there are no positions on the field where you get WAR tossed in your lap for having a pulse like CF and C.

No one here thinks he is the end all be all, but he is not at the heart of what ails the M's. We have what... 6 other options for him in the minors??? BUT THEY ARE NOT READY so we play the hand we have. There is no need to keep harping on the fact that he sucks...he is what he is
