Sorry, I was thinking about Boone's triumphant return in 2001. He didn't do much for us the first time around.Happy as hell wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 3:49 amYes, he traded for Randy, but Wikipedia claims Woodward drafted Boone, not that Wikipedia is infallible.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 3:39 amI agree but he traded for Randy and Gillick signed Boone.Happy as hell wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 3:34 am
I cannot see how Woodward belongs in the anti-HOF. He drafted Rodriquez and signed Randy Johnson as well as others (e.g., Boone) that blossomed in the Mariners golden time.

You’re right. I guess Boone didn’t discover PEDs until the second time around.

I don't think anyone did until at least the mid 90sHappy as hell wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 3:54 amYou’re right. I guess Boone didn’t discover PEDs until the second time around.

he had 12 home runs in 76 games in 1993, that was a club record for home runs by a second baseman at the time.

Re: Taking Nominees for M’s Anti-Hall of Fame!!
looking at his stats, he was hitting home runs, had 19,20,24 with Cincy. Its interesting that huge jump in WAR, he was basically replacement level those seasons. And also the big leap in batting average. How do PEDS fuel a leap to a .330 batting average...

That has baffled me as well but the same happened with Bonds.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 4:34 amlooking at his stats, he was hitting home runs, had 19,20,24 with Cincy. Bonds has a .609 OBP in 2004. That is freaking insanity.

Re: Taking Nominees for M’s Anti-Hall of Fame!!
but Bonds didn't have a jump in batting average, he hit the same range of average pretty much his entire career, he was hitting over .300 back with the Pirates, Boone went from .251 to .330 from 2000, to 2001
Re: Taking Nominees for M’s Anti-Hall of Fame!!
Bonds went from about .300 to .370.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 4:48 ambut Bonds didn't have a jump in batting average, he hit the same range of average pretty much his entire career, he was hitting over .300 back with the Pirates, Boone went from .251 to .330 from 2000, to 2001
