was thinking maybe he was being used as a pinch runner, and he did score twenty runs so there is that
Runs have no impact on WAR. Bsr does but it is minimal. Guessing about 0.1 or 0.2 of the 1.1.
Here are two examples on guys who were exclusively pinch runners for the As in the 70s: Herb Washington https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... he01.shtml, and Larry Lintz https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... la01.shtml. In Washington's two seasons he ended up with a bWAR of -0.5 despite stealing 31 bases (but got caught 17 times), and in Lintz's one season where he was pretty much exclusively a pinch runner stealing 31 bases and getting caught 11 times his WAR was 0.0. Oddly, the next year he got 40 plate appearances, hit like shit, and ended at 0.3, go figure.

from last year...Broxton getting more interest on the trade market than Santana, Mets forked over three players for him

Tom

@Haudricourt
#Brewers Keon Broxton is two years older than Domingo Santana but because he can play center, has more speed, an option remaining and might not be eligible for arbitration until 2019 (possible Super 2 after this year), I'm hearing he is drawing more interest from teams.

Paxton working in a changeup...sounds like he hadn't heard of it before
“It’s something that we’ve been working on in the bullpen. I threw, I think, four of them last game and knew it was a pitch we could use,” said Paxton, who also walked two and struck out seven. “So, I told Gary [Sanchez] to mix it in when he thought there were good times and he called it a few times today. It worked out pretty well.”

“I throw a lot of fastballs and just to have something that comes out that looks like the fastball that’s slower, as long as I keep my arm speed with it, I think it can be a very useful pitch for me,” he said.
