But we are a really bad team playing other bad teams. In reality there is several good players mainly position players on the team. I look at the O's, Tigers and there are not many guys I would rather have.
I thought 100 losses was far-fetched because the M's would have to lose at a rate that exceeded their worst winning percentage to reach it but it is not 100% out of the question. It is just unlikely. The record would have to be no better than 12-28 = .300 winning percentage and an Edgar like batting average to boot.
The worst season in M's history is the 1978 club that went 56-104 .350 winning percentage. That clube had some hitters and had a 90 OPS+ but of 15 pitchers 2 had ERA+ over 100. None of them were starters.

In reality, Mariners are a bad team. They have been playing really bad teams. They play in a tougher division (at least overall record) than the really bad teams and still have a better or equal record. Baltimore, Detroit and KC are next level bad. They should get a good test of badness against Toronto and CWS coming up in the next few weeks, and those games will decide if the Ms pick 5, 6 or 7Hanjag wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:18 pmBut we are a really bad team playing other bad teams. Going 12-28 is nowhere near out of the realm of possibility. They went 12-37 from April 12th -June 4th. Even recently they haven't been playing much above that pace. they have won 15 out of their last 40 which includes 6 wins against Detroit. They only have 3 games left against teams below them in the standings.
