Get the blinders off Spin Doctor. You have the best pitching and worst hitting team in baseball. It can't be that difficult to find a couple of guys that can actually make consistent contact and a tough love manager who holds players accountable for poor performance or down right choking.

You're absolutely correct. I don't know jack shit about baseball, but can smell a pile of shit like anyone else.
-and at the plate, this team is a pile of shit-

What is the difference in future revenue between a 2024 Mariners team that wins 85-90 games (and either misses the playoffs or exits the playoffs early) and a 2024 Mariners team that wins 95+ games and makes it the Series? Has to be more than the investment in quality free agent bats would have cost them last off-season.

Jerry has convinced himself and no one else other than Scrooge Stanton that spending more money doesn’t change the 54%. Go figure

They can probably win 54%, but what this dumbass organization doesn't realize is that the 54% over ten years or what ever BS that they spew is an average. The goal isn't to win 54% of the 162 games every year. The goal is for that to be the ten year average, but in the years you contend for a WS? It is most likely higher than that. You guys probably know better than me, but how many teams make the LCS, let alone the WS, when they won 87 games? I imagine it's some, but not a ton.

He didn't say they were trying to win 54% each year, it was a ten year average.
"If you go back, and you look in a decade, those teams that win 54% of the time always wind up in the postseason and they more often than not wind up in a World Series, so there's your bigger picture process," Dipoto said. "Nobody wants to hear 'the goal this year is we're going win 54% of the time.' … One year, you're going to 60% and another year you're going to win 50%; it's whatever it is. But over time that type of mindset gets you there. …

The M's won 54% of their games from 1994-2003.

And they made the playoffs and should have made a WS. It's Jerry that hasn't been winning 54% of the games

The whole 54% thing as a goal is idiotic. No serious GM or PBO thinks that way. Jerry was just floating some shit for the press conference last fall to try to make last year's failure seem palatable. Wasn't the whole idea that they are happy with occasionally scraping into the playoffs because eventually they will get lucky and make it all the way. That's asinine.

They made the playoffs 4 of 10 and the ALCS 2 of 10. Lost to a superior Indians team in 1995 4-2 and lost to a team better build for the playoffs in the Yankees 4-2 in 2001. Not sure they should have made a WS. You are FAR more likely to make the WS if you actually TRY to make the WS EVERY season instead of the half assed sustained "success" model that is designed to avoid the famines vs. trying to feast.

I would rather eat at a 5 star restaurant twice a week and eat fast food 5 times a week than eat at Applebees 7 days a week but that is exactly what they think the fans want. They think fans are just too dumb to realize that and that they should thank them for that steady diet of Chicken Tenders and fries and a diet Coke.
