haven't followed what they been doing there other than the deal with Garoppolo, where they were not able to take advantage of a first contract. Seems like they have done an impressive job of rebuilding despite that. Remember back when they traded for OJ and wasted all those draft picks only to have the team go 2-14, seemed like they be screwed for years but then they went into the Walsh, Montana, Young era, man was that some turnaround.

What he's alluding to is circular logic, where if Team A beats Team B and Team B beats Team C, it doesn't automatically mean Team A will be beat Team C. For example, the Hawks beat the Cardinals and the Cardinals beat the Falcons. That doesnt guarantee the Hawks will beat the Falcons in two weeks. Certain matchups, health, execution, ball bounces, those things.
Precisely.. but even more specifically just because the 49ers easily defeated two teams Hawks had close games with doesn't mean they are superior. Everyone was already giving the Cowpokes the next 3 Superbowls 2 weeks ago.
I don't need any lessons in logic from you two. If I had said "therefore, the 49ers are much better and will beat the Sehawks no problem", you might have a point, but both of you are just making up that part to argue and show how intelligent you are. This is called a "straw-man argument".

They don't play that way intentionally.
When the "playing down to their opponent" myth is brought up to PC, in any form, He says something along the lines of "I know you guys don't always like it, but that's what we want to do". Or something like that. It's been discussed ad naseum on these forums. "Can you win it in the first quarter"? Did you miss that all that, Pro?

5-1... I consider how close we could be to 1-5. I guess a good team knows how to win when the team is not firing on all cylinders.

Or 3-3 like last year anyway. I actually remember this time last year thinking we could easily be 5-1. That's what got me thinking. The Seahawks and especially RW do know how to win. RW being clutch and great in the fourth quarter to win games is not BS. We've been watching it for years now. I still feel very lucky to be a fan of the Seahawks and spoiled by how consistently competitive they've been for a long time now. The not firing on all cylinders is where I get fed up. When will they be firing on all cylinders? Which is likely to come first, they are firing on all cylinders or the next Saints type game?

yeah, Walsh and Montana, and helped by one of the greatest drafts ever - if memory serves they got like 7 or 8 starters from the same class that included a 1st rounder by the name of Jerry Rice. #1 probably 74 Steelers with 4 HOFs (Swann, Stallworth, Lambert, Webster). Strong candidate for #2 is your 2012 Seattle Seahawks - the very same that was widely graded D or F by most national pundits.

They are not keeping the games close intentionally. What kind of strategy is that? That could backfire horribly. They did ask him post game " Are you doing a Rope a Dope?" and he said no "rope a dope here"

I don't think Hawks are playing down to their opponents. Hawks are one of the most successful (and hated) teams for the past ten years. They aren't sneaking up on anybody. Every team is going to give them their best shot.

not sure what you mean by playing down to your opponent, I believe PC says its about the football, protecting it and going to get it. He talked about just the other day in terms of Sunday's game.
"You guys don't know how much we emphasize the football," he said. "It's the source of our philosophy: It's all about the ball. We are plus-three going in, and we take pride in that, but we hadn't had a big day yet. To come out plus-three today was really important because we know everything follows the success from getting the football. Our guys are committed to that, and we basically do an incredible job of taking care of the football. We're doing it again this season. We are on a good track. We can do better, but we're on it again. I was talking about bunches, and they come in bunches, and today was the day for that."
Hawks are 63-13 under Carroll when they win the turnover battle
