JS seems like a solid guy- We never quite figured out when Cable/Bevell/Pete were all here - pointing fingers at each other, who controlled whom and what functions ?- How many times did JS not agree with a PC draft choice and then not really being able to do anything about it ? Like in the end was it just Pete's way or the highway ? Glad we have moved on finally-

Sure, it's always a new beginning. You could get replaced by some bright young 30 year old getting accolades, who knows. Have a friend at Microsoft, got kicked curb, ten years of salary until his actual retirement. He's not happy with it, odd to hear him complaining l. He was one of them once,, young bright guy
Perhaps the key words are 'young' and 'bright'. And as people age they become more set in their ways and are not as receptive to other ideas. As a result, they get left behind. Or become 'dim'.

One really does have to wonder how many times JS was handcuffed by PC. It would be interesting to know.

One of the YouTube quotes... made me laugh.

John at the coaches interview
JS: okay so it’s 2nd and goal at the 1 yard line, you have two time outs, you have the best running back in the league known as beast mode what do you do
Coach being interviewed: run it three times
JS: YOURE HIRED!! 🎉
Problem is we didn’t have two timeouts. That’s why they threw.

That's it there, if you go into it with the attitude you want a defensive minded coach or a offensive minded coach, or a young coach or a veteran coach you're limiting yourself. The way to succeed is to be open to all possibilities
“Who’s going to help us move to the next level? How are we going to compete with everybody that we need to compete with and advance this organization moving forward? We’re going to learn so much in this process about the ideas. I’m proud about all of the connections we have around the National Football League, and we’ve learned a lot already. To be able to understand what that looks like. Different opinions, different philosophies, open the door to different ideas, whether it’s a defensive head coach or an offensive head coach or a special teams guy that is becoming a head coach. I think that’s all really important.”
My problem has been that the majority of success has been with a young offensive mind. I think Defensive Coordinators like to work with them, more than the other way around. Defense first guys tend to have boring offenses.

My sister bitches all the time about McVey, thinks he gets too much credit. She is an avid fantasy football player too. The last time I actually made her pause I asked this question. If JSN, DK and Lockett were more talented than Puka Nakua and Kupp? She said yes. I would agree. I asked if she thought Kenneth Walker was more talented than Kyrann Williams? She said yes. I would agree. I then asked, is there any world where you would draft those Seahawk guys ahead of those Rams? Crickets.

Our offense is fucking gross. Boring ass football, which would be fine, if we won games. But we are 30 and 33 since the fast start in 2020. When Pete decided he wasn’t comfortable playing that brand of football. Seems to me he should have been uncomfortable losing. I think JS and Jody were.

Pete has two playoff wins in seven years. The Rams and 49ers have been to two Super Bowls in that same span. Give me the exciting, young offensive guy.

Sure. As long as you don't throw it into goal line traffic to the other team. ;)

Sure, but acting as though we had enough timeouts to stop the clock and threw anyway is a false narrative. I understood throwing on second down, because if you run in second and get stuffed they know you are throwing on third down. It was a dumb ass play call though.

Also yet another instance where horseshit clock management bit us in the ass. But no one mentions it. So, yeah, seeing you say two timeouts triggers me some. We should have had two timeouts, if not three, but Pete sees no value in timeouts and burns them at will.

Exactly. If you have two guys in charge you have nobody in charge.

I don't have anything against JS. But I'm not willing to call him a former victim of PC either.
If PC was some sort of narcissistic tyrant, it was the best-kept secret in the NFL.
I think it's more likely JS had a lot to do with moves like Jimmy Grahm and Jamal Adams - good and bad
draft picks and assistant coaches.
I'm willing to give him the same benefit Jody gave Pete after she chose him over RW. 2 years.

You forget PC was the boss. As an assistant, your job is to present all ideas to the boss and let him choose. Sure, you make the medium decisions that the boss delegates you to make, but never forget that he is in charge.
