Kick Geno to the curb???

Post by trharder » Tue Feb 27, 2024 2:58 am

A couple of things crossed my mind. First, Levine coupled Geno and Lock into the question. Coach's answer might
have been literal and was necessarily ambiguous because it involved both. Lock is not even under contract.
Second, I wonder if they're hoping a team will be interested in trading for Geno. As much as it makes me ill to say it,
where else are you going to get that much veteran QB for that contract?

I'm glad McDonald isn't gushing over Geno and crowning him this early.

MacDonald still hasn't committed to Geno as the starter.

They aren't going to show their hand. That's just not how it works.
We will literally have to wait and see.

RW had a passer rating of 98 last season and Geno's was 92.

and in a stunning reversal, RW is back now to being the best value in football, given that he costs the Steel Town only the $1.2M league minimum.
vs. Geno making what, ~$28M?

Dont think he's a fit with Grubb's offense, but really curious to see what happens to Fields now that FA has completely shrunk his market. Atlanta is out, Pittsburgh out, Mayfield re-signs, Raiders sign Minshew, Pats sign Brissett. Who are they gonna trade him to - division rival Minnesota?

Corbin Smith of SI is a huge Geno fan and always saying he is a great value and not the least of the Hawks concerns. Then yesterday he says he is hoping for a Bounce back season for RW. I know passer rating isn't everything but pretty ironic that the guy you said needs to bounce back had a higher rating than the guy you said is just fine.

Not impressed with McDonald's public relations exchanges so far, which really doesn't matter a lot. But this answer for instance. What is he talking about? He's excited about Smith getting to work, okay.
I don’t want you to feel like I’m dodging this answer but that’s what I’m excited about, for him to come in here and start to build this team the way we envision building it. And the only way to do that is to go to work with it. That’s what I’m focused on, man
They have committed to Smith being on the roster, he's excited about him coming in and getting to work. Isn't it pretty unlikely smith would be working at anything other than starter? McDonald seems to like to string words together in an attempt to not actually answer questions. I just think it generates more intrigue than it deserves. Sure anything could happen. But at this point in time Smith is the starter and they are preparing for that, that's the work they are preparing isn't? That's all he'd have to say

Are people underestimating the Grubb Penix connection?
What are you thinking? More likely we draft Penix because Grubb is OC?

Does Grubb have some insight regarding Penix that is undervalued in the draft market? Or does he have some insight into Penix's weaknesses that isn't general knowledge? Or ... ?
Grubb was at Nix's Pro Day.
