I could be wrong but i felt i read somewhere they chose Penny specifically over Chubb
Hawks had their pick of running backs when they chose Penny. They could have picked anyone.
Something tells me they probably wish they had chosen Michel or Chubb. I know I do.

I thought Chubb looked pretty good today and of course Sony Michelol as well but from the rotowire draft
Penny (5-foot-11, 220 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds at the combine on Friday, adding a 32.5-inch vertical jump and 120-inch broad jump.

Penny posted one of the top 40 times among running backs at a feature back build, and now his prospect profile is golden. One of the most productive runners college football will ever see, Penny ran for 2,248 yards and 23 touchdowns in 13 games last year, averaging 7.5 yards per carry. He was also one of the best kick returners of distant memory, averaging 32.0 yards per return and scoring seven times on 61 returns.

Chubb ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash and posted 29 repetitions on the bench press. He leaped 38.5 inches vertically and 128 inches broadly. All of those numbers stood up well against his competition. Height, 5' 10⅞", 46. Weight, 227 lbs,
Ones is a little faster 1 a higher jumper. Big Georgia vs SDSU

Then you would have been regretting drafting Chubb or Michel amd saying we should have drafted Penny. "Look how good he looks on Cleveland!"

The "problem " is not the talent of Penny but the greatness of Carson. Hawks just weren't expecting him to come back like this. They just got burned with Thomas Rawls and there was nothing to indicate that Carson would return not only healthy but master the offense and become a much improved pass catcher.

He has had opportunities, and has not looked great. You are inventing excuses for him. Carson missed two starts last year, Mike Davis started both of them. I suppose it was the greatness of Mike Davis that held him back then?

No he hasn't. That's a lie. And has had some of the most amazing runs you are ever gonna see.

Bears have yet to experience Mike's greatness with 22 yards on 9 carries this season. Jordan still the greatest Mike in Chicago.

No, and Mike Davis is no longer on the team.

That team went 4-12 including 0-8 at home. Pretty bizarre.
Wow, so they won all of their games on the road that year. Bizarre indeed.
