Urban Meyer

Post by ThePro » Sat Jan 18, 2020 2:03 pm

While watching the"Inside the Aaron Hernandez " documentary. Excellent btw. Urban Meyer came up. I've always been a fan of Urban Meyer. Even when he was at Utah. I've literally studied his spread offense playbook.

I'm not on the replace Carroll bandwagon. However if he were to step aside or helped to step aside. My two replacements would have been Gruden ( might be available soon) or Coach Nike Urban Meyer...

There's the negative....

Let me say this . It's comical the notion of Meyer going to the Redskins, Cowboys or anything like that . Unstable franchises with overbearing owners. Not a chance in hell.

Seahawks? Established QB... great ownership.
If you read the knocks on Meyer it sounds eerily familiar. "His style won't work with pro athletes " Where have we heard this before?

Now keep in mind I am one of Carroll's biggest supporters. I am just sparking a discussion. I am also a huge Urban Meyer fan. Seahawks have more than enough resources to make such a thing happen. Is it time? Wait another year?

Feel free to discuss.

sure why not, except its not gonna to happen...But for arguments sake, lets say they fire PC. I still don't see it as very likely. Meyer would be another PC, or maybe more so. He apparently wants control over personnel decisions. Assuming JS is hiring the next HC, doubt he hires one that would want control of personal. JS was hired after PC, i think it would have to be the same sort of situation with Meyer. A team would fire both the GM and coach and bring in Meyer, a house cleaning situation. So unless we are firing both PC and JS, which i find more doubtful than just firing PC, don't really see it

For debates sake ...let me rebut.. Seahawks have new ownership now. So to say it can't happen isn't accurate. Jodi Allen can do whatever the hell she wants. And if she doesn't like the direction of the team. She can make a change. So it could happen. Maybe JS wants a coaching change? All I'm saying is . Could Urban Meyer be a replacement for Carroll? If "yes" When is the appropriate time to make the change? Who knows?

Interesting topic. I hate Ohio State, so I will probably have a biased opinion. He sure had success everywhere he went, and if him coaching in Seattle keeps him from SC!? Hell yes!

That being said, he has left two programs because of the strain it had on him personally. If that is the BS in the NCAA, rules and recruiting? Maybe a fit. But, the pressure of coaching in the NFL isn't something I would wish on an older guy that has twice walked away because of the strain.

He's 68. He doesn't have to be fired to no longer be the HC. Not happening this offseason and probably not next but he could step down in 2 years. Meyer would be a good choice.

I lived 4 blocks from campus in Columbus in the fall of 1991 and went to several games. None other than Herbstreet was the QB and Cooper was the HC. I hate them too.

But everyone hated Carroll to before he established himself here. Looks like the rest of the league still does.

Hmmmmm. We just finished with a 12-6 record and almost came away in the regular season with the number one seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Most of the reason why we didn't can be blamed on injuries. On top of that, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year with many pundits prognosticating the possibility (I love alliteration) of an 8-8 or 9-7 season. And what has Pete's record been while here in Seattle? 89 - 54. A Seahawk record for wins.

So tell me again why we would fire Pete??

Believe me, I don't hate them that much. It wouldn't be like Chip Kelly becoming the Hawks HC or something. :)

Because Hawks lost to Rams and Arizona at home. Fans are tired of the miracle 4th quarter comeback. Questionable coaching decisions this year.

We are talking about the present. All time record is irrelevant. I don't want him fired but I feel my opinion is the minority. Like I said Always been a Meyer fan and he is available now.
