Didn't he also petition to bring in Olson and push for re-signing Clowney? That said, JS deserves to take some heat for his OL draft picks as well as throwing money at guys like Joeckel.

The Olson signing was horrible... he hadn't played a full, healthy season in years prior to the Hawks signing him. It's mind boggling to see some the decisions made.

When the Hawks drafted Joey Hunt in the 6th round the analysts said the guy wasn't even worth a UDFA slot to a camp let alone a draft pick.

Ted Karras from U of I has been a starting center in the league since 2016 and has averaged a PFF grade of 67.5. He was taken 6 slots after Hunt and is 6'4 305.

Austin Blythe was taken some 20 picks after Hunt in the 7th round at center and graded 76.4 in 2018 and 69.3 in 2020... he did have some down years inbetween, but at least he has been a starter and far more serviceable that the rag doll we drafted.

Bold = still on roster and has had some playing time.

Red = impact starters still on roster.

They really, really fucked up in the 2014 and 2015 drafts. 15 picks all up in smoke. No guys who are still on the team. No starters... awful.

2016 they struck out again... absolute nobodies. Jefferson started some games but was injury prone. They cut Collins prior to the season starting. Everyone else utter trash.

2017 was a solid performance at the back end of the draft. But what happened in the couple picks prior?

2018 they drafted Michael Dickson... but that's where you're supposed to draft kickers. Flowers and Jones have been backup level players and will likely find themselves off the roster in 2021. Dissly could have been something, but injuries have derailed. Not great.

2019... Ugo Imadi has been really the only solid draft pick here. Kirven is a special teamer... but outside of these 2 they failed. They also traded into the 7th round to draft Ursua which lost them a 6th round pick in 2020 I believe.

2020 remains to be seen... but they seemingly have found some players here... too early to tell.

In all, they've had 44 picks in the 4th round or later since 2013. 8 to 10 of those 44 became starters (some wiggle there). 3 of them have become impact starters. 29 of these players are no longer w. the Seahawks. Remember, the Hawks picked Bam Bam in the 6th, Sherman in the 5th, Wright in the 4th.

This has killed us.

I don't think that's all that bad a success % for 4th round and later. Maybe a little below average, but not nearly as bad as the late 1st to early 2nd round picks. That's where Schneider has really been awful.

Agreed, but I think the point is everyone used to excuse it because he was such a genius at getting studs late.

If we could get Watson in here by all means do it. Might take a multi team trade to pull it off but yeah.
