I had to edit my post three times to eliminate the Rick-Roll and preserve the integrity of the joke. Nice work, S.H. :)
I appreciate that. We wouldn't want all the hopeless schlubs that lurk here and seldom (if ever) post to be deprived of the joys of being "Die Woodys"-rolled. ;)

Some buddies crashed the old ESPN Mariners Board 20 years ago with a bogus:

"Anna Kournikova Nude!" link.

It got so many hits that the site went down for a day or two lol.

Ah, those innocent early years of the world-wide web. If you tried that now, nobody would even care because pornographic imagery is so prolific and ingrained in the culture of the internet, most 10 yr old boys have probably seen it a thousand times. Wonders of the "information age".

As if it wasn't back then? Don't want to admit the first term my buddy and I searched inaugurating his original hookup. The early internet was a wild west of anything you felt like searching, from the most hard core porn to bomb making instructions, it was all there. What has changed is the commercialization and the policing. The innocent aspect was how people communicated with each other, that has become very jaded

it was that FTP system i believe, you wait an hour for a single picture to download, i quickly lost interest, i do remember considering the characters sitting around in a basement consumed with waiting for a download
In the 1980s, the internet was frequented by three types of people: government officials, university scholars, and porn seekers. The three were not necessarily mutually exclusive. Today's thriving online pornography industry has its roots in the bulletin board systems (BBS) that evolved separately from the internet in the 1980s. They gave way to Usenet newsgroups and free FTP (file transfer protocol, a format for exchanging files over the internet). Users talked about things they had on BBSs and in the newsgroups, then traded the files online.

"The earliest porn sites on the net were FTP sites run for free from college campuses, especially MIT for some reason," said one early watcher of the web who asked to remain anonymous. "All the free sites shut down under escalating traffic load in 93-94. Of course they were all rampant copyright violations, and lots of people stopped carrying the newsgroups because of the huge amounts of bandwidth and storage space they required."

breakdown of how fast NFL teams get off plays, Hawks not the slowest, sort of a confusing array of data seems to me

Interesting, "innocent" was the wrong word i guess lol. I was somewhat tech avoidant and didn't even have a computer until just before 2000 so i missed out on the good ol' days i guess.

The issue with the Seahawks is about how much time is left when they get set at the line.
I don’t know if we’ll necessarily see drastic change to how the Seahawks offense operates, but I do know I’m tired of watching them not even out of the huddle with 10 on the play clock and hauling ass to avoid a penalty.

To me it was more about how long they were in the huddle. A Rod might snap it late, but it was after he spent twenty seconds surveying the defense and the defenders had to be ready at any moment. The defenses we play against have time for a nap before they even have to get set.
