Brilliant! 18 game season with 16 game per player limit

They are messing with the sacred geometry, the very numerological concepts that underpin the success of the league these past few decades. One football. Two teams per game. Four teams in each division. Eight different divisions. Sixteen games per season. Thirty-two teams.

If they introduce a power of three to the schedule, this could very well result in the adoption of a new brand of football played on a triangular field with three teams competing against each other, which would require billions of dollars to build new stadiums to accommodate these new dimensions. Also, they would need to add 4 expansion teams and go to 6 divisions per conference with 3 teams in each division.

It's a bad idea.

This is without a doubt the best argument against it I have seen yet. Sure beats the other inane 1st world problem complaints.

The best part of this, is watching people try to defend this utterly absurd proposal with a straight face, especially while completely ignoring the many, many, potential downsides that have been shown. the NFL 'making more money' is not a reason any fan would ever get on board with this. I do not believe for one second that anyone on here purporting to support this, actually do. It defies any and all logic and common sense. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. "Hey, Captain, can we steer closer to that iceberg? I'd love to get a better look!" "Sure! What could possibly go wrong?"

There isn't enough attrition - we need more games, for more injuries, leading into the playoffs. This is literally like an Onion article - and then add in all the arbitrary rules regarding who has to sit and for how long, and then suddenly it's "Oh, the QB's and kickers won't have to sit out any games" until they slowly whittle that list down to nothing and suddenly no one has to sit out anything and now it's just an 18 game season. Gee f'n whiz, can't see that one coming - two extra games of roster decimating injuries just in time for the playoffs - so the owners can make a little more money while the game quality circles the drain. Defending that because the NFL is somehow being stifled financially? The same league that brought you the PSL fee? That is priceless. I do not believe anyone defending this absurd notion is doing so with sincerity.

Breathe man. Its fucking football. Maybe therapy can help you get through it if they decide to do it.

162 MLB games 82 NBA games and 80 NHL games which are close to as physical as football and no problem whatsoever but go to 18 football games and it is going to end Western civilization as we know it. This could even be worse for the country than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction!

Just watch the video. If you think 80 games of that playing a full 60 minutes instead of a fraction of the time for 16 games isn't tougher I don't know what to say. And I'm not a hockey fan.

Interesting comparison however there is nothing in Hockey like the LOS in football. The D and O lines are crushing each other every single snap. You could say the same for the backs. There is no position in hockey that is getting hit by that many players every play.

Take nothing away from Hockey. And I am a fan. Tremendous athletes and extremely physical but just not as physical as football.

Yeah I would definitely agree that one football game is probably more brutal than one hockey game. But they play 80 and almost 100 if they win the Stanley Cup vs. 19 for the SB champ.

Ok but that's a freaking fight. They aren't fighting every play or game. You could show highlights of batters getting beaned in the head and make the argument baseball is more physical than football.
