I brought that up before, he turned down the deal long before the Alabama position opened. It didn't sound like Alabama in particular, he wanted to capitalize

It is what it is. I am not going to hold it against a guy for doing what he thinks is best for his career. He basically did the same thing when we scooped him out of Fresno. He is not from here and has no ties here so why would we expect any loyalty. I for one appreciate him putting out the dumpster fire that Lake left behind. I am not going to root for him at Bama but I am not going to waste my time being bitter either.

Exactly. Great coach while he was here, thankful for that. not gonna waste energy rooting against him anymore than i already do vs. Alabama.
Move on and poach someone else's talent from the portal as well as the prep ranks.

Well said. It's the landscape of college football. I fear a day is coming where I treat college football like college basketball. I just stop paying attention. It's so hard to watch college hoops because half or more of the roster is gone the next year.

I posted Alabama's record the decade before Saban got there. They were mid at best. I predict it will end up being a terrible career move going from a place where he was worshiped to a place where he will be crucified for a 5-2 start. And for what exactly? a couple million more a season?

The period between Bryant and Saban is pretty break.

So Saban was really that great a coach? Didn't seem to have much success in the NFL, so why was he so wildly successful in the college game? He doesn't seem to have been a player's coach in the way that Carroll was.

Recruiting. Which isn't nearly as important anymore, since guys can be bought. So that is why he is gone, IMO.

In the decade before he got there they were 41 and 43 in the SEC
