...the Sonics win their first and only NBA title: https://twitter.com/seattletimes/status ... 1027520512

They won it just a couple of years before I was born so I can only imagine what the celebration was like, which was probably similar to the Hawks' SB 48 victory ;)

I was living in Oregon by then but was rooting for the Sonics, As big as that celebration may have been I bet it would pale to the celebration if the Mariners ever won the WS.

I was almost 12. It was big but not even close to the Million Fan March after the Hawks won it all. I went to that and it was probably the coldest I have ever been in my life.

But probably damn worth it to freeze your ass off in celebrating the Super Bowl 48 champs, right? ;)

I was 15 years old, and it happened just a few months before I left for southern Germany to be an exchange student for 6 months. I got to wear all kinds of Sonics Championships stuff all over Germany, and it was cool because Germans did follow the NBA somewhat even way back then, and the ones that didn't would still ask about it.

Too bad Larry and Magic came into the league the following year and changed the basketball landscape forever.
