Does the world a lot of good if China keeps building coal fired electrical plants and India's population keeps growing. The U.S. and Europe have reduced their "carbon footprint" while both China and India have increased their exponentially. We are small potatoes compared to those two. What we do won't matter if CO2 was even a real problem.

What's ridiculous is the idea that fossil fuels are solely to blame, when there are so many other factors at play. Consider the following:

- land use and deforestation resulting in habitat destruction and loss of species;
- overfishing;
- pollution of air, water and soil from agrochemicals, mineral extraction and burning of wood and dung;
- degradation of the earth's surface from mining, littering, household and industrial waste.

But the politicians want us all to believe that we should switch to electric. Under a woefully inadequate grid.

Typical hypocrisy
While Musk has declared himself a “free speech absolutist,” his companies have repeatedly been accused by the US government of trying to silence workers. Last year, SpaceX settled a claim that it illegally tried to stifle an employee’s speech. Separately, Musk’s social media company X settled with a former employee who a NLRB regional director had concluded was illegally fired for protesting a return-to-office mandate. NLRB members have also ruled that Musk’s electric carmaker Tesla Inc. illegally fired an activist and that Musk threatened workers on social media; Tesla is appealing in federal court.

A consumer advocacy group is suing Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee brand, for false advertising, alleging that it sources coffee and tea from farms with human rights and labor abuses, while touting its commitment to ethical sourcing.

The case, filed in a Washington, D.C., court on Wednesday on behalf of American consumers, alleges that the coffee giant is misleading the public by widely marketing its “100% ethical” sourcing commitment on its coffee and tea products, when it knowingly sources from suppliers with “documented, severe human rights and labor abuses.”
