Same here. That's why I didn't vote. He can play, he's a better option than Lock, and they need a guy to help them transition.

They are not deciding Smith is going to be the starter by keeping him on the roster in February. Fact is they don't know who the starter might be so they need to keep him under contract until things are more developed. I thought the was a big nothing burger stirred up by the media. They were never in position to cut smith this soon. They can cut him later in the season or even trade him if another starter presents themselves

Smitty will be the game one starter, no doubt about it. He knows the offense and is better than Lock or anyone else that will be available. Trades aren't really an option either because they have too many needs at other positions, which is also why they won't waste a pick on a QB. You heard it here first.
