Our payroll is still 10s of millions below what it was when we traded him so unless one of the owners is your Dad that has ZERO value. They just pocketed it.

Most hilarious thing about it is that we got more Value from 47 games of Jay Bruce than 3 seasons of Kelenic...

Well, we aren’t on the hook for any of the $100MM it took to keep Diaz in a Mets uniform.
In balance, it seems the Mets won that trade. But we went after a highly touted prospect which was a calculated risk. IF Kelenic had panned out and lived up to his hype, I’d say the trade was an almost a tie. We got rid of an expensive player who wound up serving another suspension for PEDs and then flamed out plus an elite closer we could never afford to keep long term, for some of their flotsam and a player who looked to be the COFer we could build around.
In the end, we may have won the battle, but lost the WAR.

Which only means something to the ownership and nothing to us fans.

If Kelenic had lived up to expectations, it would have been a win for everyone - Mets fans, Mariners fans and ownership.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 12:55 amWhich only means something to the ownership and nothing to us fans.

It's still a factor to the organization. Most fans could care less about it, but it means a whole lot more to the front office for running the business. This isn't Fantasy Baseball, we are not the LA Dodgers.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 5:43 pmOur payroll is still 10s of millions below what it was when we traded him so unless one of the owners is your Dad that has ZERO value.
