Re: Payroll situation
This year J.P. Crawford posted 2.8 fWAR, valued at $22.4 million: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jp-crawford/15491/stats?position=SS#value Crawford benefited from great picks by his first basemen, but Crawford was charged with only five throwing errors: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-le...

Re: Payroll situation
The Super Two system is imperfect. Seattle selected starters Bryce Miller and Bryan Woo in the fourth and sixth rounds of the 2021 draft. Miller and Woo made their MLB debuts in 2023, Miller in May and Woo in June. Miller has posted 3.7 bWAR in 402 MLB innings, including a negative 0.8 bWAR this ye...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Who the hell are they going to trade for that they need his salary relief for? Nobody ever suggests that they just spew out b******* A simple review of the Locked On Mariners plan would answer that question but someone would need rudimentary internet skills to access the entire offseason plan. http...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
I like the idea of bringing in Mackenzie Gore though I would prefer to give up a package built around Felnin Celesten vs. Harry Ford. Earlier this month a Locked On Nationals podcaster proposed a trade of Harry Ford and Kade Anderson for MacKenzie Gore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZBICoo8Zqo ....

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Swapping out Castillo for Gore is fine I guess. Adding Donovan is good but he has only played 20 games at 3B so you still don't have a 3rd baseman. And you have 3 2nd basemen. Putting Herrin and his 4.85 ERA and 5.08 FIP and 1.57 WHIP in the Bullpen is insane. They predicted Santos was going to be ...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Hayden Birdsong has been terrible and Harris had a 5.44 ERA in AAA. Did they try to find the worst pitchers in the Giants org to trade for Luis Castillo. Those two are complete idiots. That return is worse than Vargas and Seby for Geno. Just moronic. That's the simple nature of salary dumps. FWIW B...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
In their offseason plan, they have Harry Ford going to the Nationals for Mackenzie Gore , which opens up the backup catcher role. It's worth noting that that this year the Washington Nationals finished last in fWAR from the catcher position (but for the Angels, a distant, distant last): https://www...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Arizona has re-signed veteran catcher James McCann to a one-year, $2.75 million contract with $500,000 in performance incentives. FanGraphs projects McCann with a 2026 WAR of 0.5 in 53 games while projecting Mitch Garver, who is seven months younger, with a 2026 WAR of 0.6 in 57 games. That close c...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
You would think he would just retire. I can't imagine he enjoyed his job much the past two seasons. Has plenty of money.
