Re: This won't be as thrilling as SH's polls but I have one

I have enjoyed 99.9% of my 53 years on this planet and plan to hang around for many more to come. But, no way do I want to have another go at it. YOLO. But if I had to do a Quantum Leap into one of those - I think Tom Brady might be a fun episode. I'd probably cock up the Patriots dynasty giving at ...

Re: The official Hot Stove League Thread 2025-26 Offse

By Adam Jude Seattle Times staff reporter Blah blah blah blah blah Hey Darren thanks for sharing this kinda thing in full. Whilst what these “insiders” post is sometimes BS and speculation, I don’t even get access to it. So just seeing the post and giving me chance to read and digest is invaluable....

Re: Payroll situation

We are paying JP Crawford $12 mill ? He cant even throw a simple ground ball to 1B without causing the fielder to stretch like Nadia Comăneci and tidy up his waywardness. This year J.P. Crawford posted 2.8 fWAR, valued at $22.4 million: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jp-crawford/15491/stats?posi...

The candy bars are all virtually the same barring peanut content, aren't they?

Where's Twix? It's the one decent bar of chocolate you can get over there.

Re: World Series Thread

I suppose. But instinct says the offside rule dictates the whole tactical structure. Just as in the NFL if the attacking team could run past the line of scrimmage before the snap you would have chaos all over the field, wouldn't you? I'm not sure that is a good analogy. Soccer isn't broken down int...

For D-T's sanity and trying to get back to topic - can't see how any neutral would root for the Dodgers.
I'm guessing from the tone there isn't specific rooting FOR the Dodgers, just rooting against Toronto 8-)

Re: World Series Thread

At least there was some satisfaction in how the Bluejays were 5 outs away and blew it. That has to be a lot more painful than being 8 outs away from getting to the WS and blowing it (thanks Dan). They came into the league the same year as the Mariners and have been to 3 World Series and won two of ...

Re: World Series Thread

I understand the principle involved. They are the same offside role in hockey. But at least in hockey, they have a hard line on the ice where you can clearly see whether the buck or the offensive player crosses first. Your original soccer league, the NASL tried it in the 70s/80s with a strict 35 ya...

Re: World Series Thread

It's a stupid rule. Why make a game where it is almost impossible to score even harder to score? I'm trying my best not to bite    . But the offside rule is to stop "goal hanging" - where you could just leave two or three players stood right in front of the goal throughout the game. ...
