Re: Carlos Correa to Richen Pool of FAs

:) Turner and Swanson. Xander is my guy. Love him - would be so happy if the M's got him. There will be stiff competition. The Dodgers are likely losing Turner, so they'll be all in on the top "plan B" in the FA market. So might the Braves. The Angels need a SS, too - and god knows they don't mind ...

Re: Pitchers

Kirby started out the season with a fastball averaging 96mph, nod now it's declined to 94mph. It's going to be interesting how he'll be handled in the ALCS, and the WS, if the M's make both. Might a dip on velocity simply mean he is working on control? Maybe a 1 or 2 mph dip is worth a little extra...

Use your best arm out of the pen. That being Boyd. Not that hard.
So that’s what we would do differently in game 2?

Gotchya.

Re: Pitchers

Waste a starter? A one-out, dozen pitches is wasting him? He wasn’t slated to start 2 days later, so how is it a waste? Yeah, it wouldn’t have been what I would have done. Scotty did what he did for whatever reasons he had. I would have walked Alvarez. Hell, I would have left Sewald in. But I didn’t...

Re: The wipe-out Lefty!

It’s baseball, pure and simple. We can relive that at-bat for decades (and likely we will). But it’s baseball. YA got the better of RR. We can wax poetic about how we would have managed the team differently, but it doesn’t matter. What’s done is done. It’s not like he put stickum on the mascot and t...

Re: Pitchers

Go back to the game thread and read the posts after Ray was announced and before YA homered. None were mine and almost all asked why the F are they going with Ray. At least a half dozen. Not hindsight. Agreed. But let’s assume the physicists are right and there’s infinite universes. In at least one...

Re: Pitchers

If these guys have access to so much more info than we do, why do they continue being wrong time after time when the information we have is sitting there staring us in the face with the obvious move? I kind of think a handful of guys on this board with access to Google could do better with analytic...

Re: Pitchers

I don’t think they should have gone with Ray. Leave Sewald in. Look - hindsight is always 20/20, but Ray was not the best choice. The Astros owned him all season long, he’s a fastball pitcher and Alvarez feasts on fastballs, and Ray gives up a lot of long balls. Literally the only reason to go with ...

Re: Game Thread: ALDS Game 1

I love the aggressiveness there - both runner advance, take away the double play. The *stros must be freaking shell shocked.
