Re: Playoff Roster
If you put Sloan on the 40 man he is not eligible to play in the minor leagues next season if there is a lockout.

Re: Playoff Roster
I would trust Wilson or Laz over Ward.
Also, I realize Kirby hasn't been great this season or even good at times. However, he does have playoff experience and if he pitches like he did in that Phillies game, I would take him over Miller.

Tear it down. I would even entertain taking offers for 44. Plays with absolutely no heart. In fact, you could say that with most of the team.
Difficult to believe that Dan Wilson is still allowed to manage this team.
Pitiful.

Re: Julio "gets hot in the 2nd half" Rodriguez
Far from a superstar. His At Bat in Saturday's game in the 5th inning exemplifies his offense this season. Absolutely brutal.
He has regressed instead of improving. 44, 29, and for the most part 12 have been huge disappointments this season.

Re: The Manny Acta Era begins Game thread
Season was close to being over in 2024 when he was hired so really it would have just been a 2 year deal if it expires at the end of this season. Possible but I would think a 3 year deal. btw How ridiculous is it that every detail of player contracts are ALWAYS reported but FO and manager contracts...

Whether the Mariners make the playoffs/win the division will be determined by how 29 and 44 play. You can go through the trade deadline moves over and over and talk about the supporting cast, but 29 and 44's performance will dictate the last 2 months, just like it has the first 4. I wish them well.

My personal top 5... Jack Perconte Scott Spiezio Al Martin Eric Bedard Carl Everett Jack Perconte was actually one of my favorite Mariners back in those days. Not a good player, but I liked him. Can also throw in Rey Quinones, Jim Presley, Spike Owen, Tony Bernazard, etc. Not exactly household name...

Re: IMO may be controversial
I've said in other threads that I don't think they should be buyers at the deadline, and I suspect that's what the front office is thinking as well, which may have something to do with Jerry's recent comments about contending teams trading with each other, as opposed to the traditional fire sale sc...

Re: Return of Mr Tight Pants Sunday GT
I still haven't forgiven Robbie Ray for giving up the HR to Alvarez to lose game 1 in 2022. A game the Mariners were in full command of. I still say they win that series if Ray closes that one out.
