Re: Rich Amaral-My Kind of Mariner!
Javier was a good player for us but I don't think he ever played infield. David, David, David, David, David........ In 17 years he played 1513 games in to OF. 38 at 1B 15 as DH 3 at 2B 2 at 3B smh...........................so I guess he was a shortstop :P Oh, but he did play 3 games at 1B for the M...

Re: Rich Amaral-My Kind of Mariner!
He had a career WAR of 5.1 which doesn't really jump out at you, but he was really good as a utility player, maybe our second-best ever after Mark McLemore. I’d put Stan Javier in that list too. Gillick didn’t have stellar drafts or trades, where he most excelled was in picking up solid free agents...

Rich Amaral-My Kind of Mariner!
This guy could do all the basics, Well, bunt, hit behind the runner, steal, run the bases, play multiple positions, show good range in the outfield. Hit .276 lifetime! Had over 300 at bats in 1996, hit .292 with 25 stolen bases! The Throwback, a 50’s type, unheralded, unselfish player. Before I reti...

The greater the number of at bats, the higher the honor.
Kratz had over 900, hence greater failure!

Re: Most Successful Failures—A New Series
If Blanco was any stiffer he'd be a stiff. I remember. Hey, how does one get into the Successful Failure Club? Haven’t yet come up with strict criteria, I know em when I see em! After his last year’s 2 rbi’s in over a hundred at bats, gotta say, Andrew Romine’s knockin down the doors. At the very l...

Re: Mr. Leake vs. MissHapp Game thread
YIKES! On the 2nd page of the game thread and no lineup posted. For shame. For shame. It's dt's thread but you can't read a book without a cover! Mike Leake (R) J.A. Happ (L) 1. Dee Gordon (L) 2B 2. Mitch Haniger (R) RF 3. Edwin Encarnacion (R) 1B 4. Domingo Santana (R) LF 5. Ryon Healy (R) 3B 6. T...
