Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Yeah, I wasn't thinking in terms of needing to dump salary but rather an opportunity to apply it someplace else. Actually what it would be is a way to utilize prospects. Say you traded Castillo and then traded for Gore it's cost you prospects to pick up that salary relief. You could then use it to a...

Re: A plan for the 3x trade favorites 3.0
With a division winning team and a top ranked farm seems to me the mariners have created a glut of prospects. I wouldn't think its so much if you should trade them but how you should trade them. Skubal depending on the cost could make sense. A skubal trade really turns on the tigers, I don't believe...

Re: OT Happy Thanksgiving
Thanks! It almost got completely by me this season. One of these years I need to make a real gesture here and put out spread. If there's anything that's right in a Filipinos wheelhouse it's a big meal!

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Once again this is straying off course. The only narrative I am talking about is having to dump salary to create payroll flexibility. I am now officially down with this ridiculous conversation which is right up there with people arguing that men can get pregnant Dumping salary is a strawman, I neve...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
If spending on a FA first baseman isn’t spending, then be prepared to be disappointed in what they do. It's not a question of being dissapointed, I don't have expectations to begin with. I am happy they signed Naylor but I'm not particularly impressed by it. It's what the needed to do and they did ...

Re: The official Hot Stove League Thread 2025-26 Offseason
The Jays add Dylan Cease to a 7 year deal: https://www.mlb.com/news/dylan-cease-blue-jays-deal And fans on X think Gilbert and Kirby are going to resign before going to FA. lol 1.1 WAR and a 4.55 ERA this season. Imagine what those two will get in 2-3 years. Great point. Our peak window of contenti...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
Here's dipoto talking about it, the last season was just another step in the process. The next step is combining your prospects to the mix of key veterans. He points to the Braves of the 90s as being skilled at that process. Dipoto has laid the narrative out himself, they were focused on retaining ...

Re: Who had the best plan from the mariners podsters
It really is not changing the narrative. The narrative is the same as it was when they got Castillo at the trading deadline. They went "all in" when they saw what kind of person he was and signed him to an extension. Same basic play with Naylor. Changing the narrative will be to really spend some m...

Re: Top 50 M's
You know Richie Sexson get a bad rap but he played pretty well for the M's in '05 and '06...too bad he signed a 4yr deal. I agree, he also got a bad rap because like Jrod he'd heat up later in the season. I've never had a problem with a guy putting his numbers up in the second half. The team needs ...
