Rich Strike
Rich Strike
From position 20 after being the first alternate and being called up to fill the field. Went off at 80 to 1!
Re: Rich Strike
Biggest longshot since 1913 which was 91-1. Guessing he will be a one hit wonder but would be amazing if he won the Preakness setting up for a shot at the TC.

Re: Rich Strike
Do any of you know what RS's resume was prior to the Derby? Was he running shorter races where his stamina didn't come into play as much?
Re: Rich Strike
Eight races. 2 wins, Four shows. Nothing to write home about. One tenth (dead last) and one fifth. Even if he wasn't an alternate, the odds would have likely been the same. Must have caught him on a good day!

Just realized the antonym of this thread would be Poor Ball which is what Mitch Haniger's wife said when she first laid eyes after that fateful HBP.
