Big day in the soccer world as both continental championships reach their Finals.

12pm PDT, 5pm EDT and 8pm UK it’s the Final of Euro 2024
ENGLAND v SPAIN
Second consecutive final for England but our trophy drought goes back to 1966. Spain will be the favourites no doubt but then who knows what might happen. England will come to a standstill with the pubs already filling up.

5pm PDT, 8pm EDT and 1am UK it’s the final of Copa America
ARGENTINA v COLOMBIA at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
The US were invited to host and participate even though it’s a South American competition. You might all have tuned in (not) to watch a 2-0 win against Bolivia then a 2-1 shock loss to Panama before another defeat to Uruguay which saw a limp exit from the tournament in the group stages.

Let’s just say if England do produce an upset and win the Euros tonight (the game is in Germany as well  ) then expect the country to party for about 2 years.

This has been mostonmike reporting for the Marinerstalk soccer forum explaining why he might not post on here for the next few days     although I will still watch some of tonight’s game against the Angels which starts around the time of the second half of the football.

Come on the Three Lions. Let’s bring football home.

Shows how important football is, as it reduced an assassination attempt of a president to a tiny strap line at the top of the front page. When England equalised with 15 minutes to play, it looked like we were in the ascendency but then typical Englishness prevailed and It “didn’t come home”. Now, the next World Cup in the USA in 2026 will be the 60th anniversary of our last success.

Elsewhere, Argentina won their 16th Copa América
