2021 is the year Mariners could start contending, but realistically it will be 2022. I do not see Seager being traded because of his salary, and he isn't blockig anyone. I imagine the Mariners will let Rizzo and Shenton Simmer in the minors for the next 2 years and Seager plays out his contract while providing good D and nothing with the bat.

He will be the Felix of the lineup the next 2 years. Just have to wait ot his contract, and maybe hope for extended DL trips.
That just prolongs the agony. Just bring up Shed when his ready and Lopes. At least there is a chance they can be good eventually.
I'll be shocked if anything happens. Hopefully Gordon and Beckman are moved so we can see more of Lopes and Long, but Seager isn't going anywhere.

Mariners don't have someone to replace him and aren't going anywhere and don't want him, why would any other team want him at that salary?

Yeah, but you would have done that with Felix too and they haven't yet. Im not saying they shouldn't dfa him, just that I don't think they will

I'd trade them for next to nothing if we just got salary relief..... any single A or AA prospects would be fine.... just get rid of them and tank this turd of a season.... Give Negron and other young guys get OTJ experience....

I *so* want to see Seager gone, and long before 2022 please. I can’t stand anymore to see him come to the plate, looking like Smeagol from Lord of the Rings as he stretches his jaw and neck in those weird contortions before striking out, hitting into a double play, or popping up with a man on third. I want to throw something at the TV screen. Please get rid of him. I always wonder when I see some pathetic schmuck wearing a Seager jersey at T-mobile park “Why?” Why in hell would anyone wear that jersey? Even the number 15 gives me the creeps.

End rant.

I like 15, it was Thurman Munson’s number, but Kyle definitely isn’t giving anyone a reason to wear it anymore. They probably have a stockpile of them at the team store, have them on sale for $9.98.

Eh, the guy put in the effort to lose a lot of weight. Or was it Sono Bello? But it still didn't help him with hitting.

What has happened to Seager is pretty remarkable. He seemed to be destined to be one of the franchise greats. He is just shy of 30 Career WAR and sits at 8th on the team career WAR List behind 5 hall of famers, Felix and Moyer and ahead of adored guys like Buhner, Wilson, Alvin Davis, John Olerud etc. How many times have you seen an offensive player throw up a 6.9 WAR at age 28 and be totally done at age 31? Usually if that happens its some sort of physical ailment but in Seager's case I think it mostly has to do with the Shift. The shift is in his head and the more he tries to adjust to it the worse he gets.
