Marte didn't suck, he just hadn't developed into the player he could be. I was disapointed they gave up on him. He has a nice approach at the plate actually
Re: Lookout Landing on the trade deadline
You said he bombed this year, he had 1 fucking bad series and now he's bombing. LMFAO. It's 3 fucking games. That's the definition of a fucking small sample you idiot.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:13 pm
A small sample?
The sample through out his career is that he's hit like a Hall of Famer in June and like a total shitter almost every other month:
^^^ That's 1200 plate appearances, not a "small sample."

He had a .610 OPS and bad defense. ISLTMs would be hating his ass so hard right now if there was a player doing that for the Ms.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:15 pmMarte didn't suck, he just hadn't developed into the player he could be. fyi Mitch is over 5 years older than France, is ranked 24th of 26th RFers defensively and has basically the same OPS as France and you want to lock him up. France has 1.6 WAR and Mitch is at 1.3.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:07 pmYeah we also traded Ketel Marte to do it.
Torrens is a backup catcher.
Unless France hits to an .800+ OPS I'm not sure how much value he brings given that he's a pretty mediocre fielder... .767 isn't good enough and won't be good enough.
Crawford seems like he's bombing off his traditional June high yet again... I've said this many times, Crawford left June of 2019 hitting .310 and finished .220something by year's end... his last 7 games he's gotten pull happy, he's swinging at ball 3 in 2-0 counts, and he's hitting .214/.290/.286/.576... last 15 games? .657 OPS.
None of the trades we've made have amounted to much of anything yet given what we've traded away.

One side is saying trade Mitch if we get a good return and the other is say don't trade him no matter what. Yeah what will we do without his 2 WAR next season or less if he gets injured or continues to decline.

Yeah well, until he proves that he can maintain what he did in June, even to a passable level, there's no reason to believe that he's any different than what he's been in the past. It's literally what he has been... a great June hitter who falls off the planet.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:15 pmYou said he bombed this year, he had 1 fucking bad series and now he's bombing. He's got a .576 OPS in July w. 2 XBH's in 28 plate appearances and a .576 OPS... You wanna know what good hitters do? They don't go 0-12 in a series... they maintain high OPS's by being extremely consistent and string together a few hits even when they're struggling.
Crawford takes 0-12 and turns them into 5 for 50 runs stretches. That's who he has been and he needs to stop being so hot or cold.

Re: Lookout Landing on the trade deadline
Ohhh you forgot to mention his 2.2 WAR in 57 games his first season, he regressed his second which is not uncommon but still had positive WAR. He never sucked as a mariner. And it was a mistake to trade him. I said it at the timeJuliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:16 pmHe had a .610 OPS and bad defense. I'm not convinced that France can really play anywhere in the field at a high level other than a sort of mediocre 1B. He was slated at DH until the injury/horrible performance by White... u happy w. France hitting to a .767 OPS and only 8 homers playing 1st base or DH? I'm not.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:21 pmfyi Mitch is over 5 years older than France, is ranked 24th of 26th RFers defensively and has basically the same OPS as France and you want to lock him up. Haniger has a career .820 OPS and his floor seems to be what he's doing now in the high .700's... .780-.840... I'm more than OK w. that from Haniger to play an OF position when we can ideally slot Kelenic and JRod in a future outfield beside him.

Re: Lookout Landing on the trade deadline
Yeah... not to mention that Crawford has had 5 years to turn into a .740 OPS hitter. Yet M's fans and Crawford got all butt hurt that he didn't get an All Star nod. Crawford you wanna be an All Star? Hit to a .800 OPS... otherwise you're never going to be one. That's just a fact.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:27 pmOhhh you forgot to mention his 2.2 WAR in 57 games his first season, he regressed his second which is not uncommon but still had positive WAR. I wasn't a fan of the Marte trade at the time. He had a .753 OPS as a rookie and hit .283... wasn't sure he was going to develop the power he did, but his ability to hit for contact at an elite level was evident.
Re: Lookout Landing on the trade deadline
As far as I'm concerned France is our 3B going forward.
Moore is our 2B.
We don't have a DH or 1B. If they sign a 3B or 2B, France/Moore can move. His offense already makes up for the difference in defense between him and Seager.
