Re: Corey Brock Mailbag with my comments
You don’t have many others in here that agree Haniger and Seager should be included. I read an awful lot of how people can’t wait for them to stop blocking the young guys.
I don’t share your optimism of the youth. Crawford and Lewis have had one good month in the majors each. And that is one more than JK and Cal. That is four of nine that are hard to count one with another currently on another team and two other vets many want gone. Sounds an awful lot like this year. Just not sure next year’s promise was worth throwing this year away for.

You didn't share my optimism for this season either- until it was half over.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:32 amYou don’t have many others in here that agree Haniger and Seager should be included. I read an awful lot of how people can’t wait for them to stop blocking the young guys.

So forgive me for not worrying too much about your level of optimism.
We're still right in the playoff mix, even as bad as they've been. Yet it's downhill from here? Ya'ok. Enjoy wallowing alone if your sorrow bud.

Seager isn't blocking anybody
And they continue to add to it...I brought up going after a significant catcher upgrade along the lines what the white Sox did. Everybody had been in love with Raleigh but maybe the reality of developing a ml catcher is sinking. That really is the position I see where maybe they can't afford to be patient. A veteran catcher could not only fill out the lineup but also help solidify the pitching

I agree, and have said several times that discarding Kyle and Mitch is short sighted. But, I am in the minority. I read 2022 lineups that consist of three guys that have t even played an inning with the big club yet. But, we are going to contend with that?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:38 amSeager isn't blocking anybody

I just have a hard time buying that this organization will develop. The young guys we have that can hit? Toro and France? Went straight to the pros when we got them. The rest of them?

Oh okay... it's funny to me, look at the dodgers, all they seem to do is add players. I brought pujols up the day, forgot he was on their roster, he's hitting better these days. Anyway, point being we suddenly don't have room for Haniger, go figure. I think you need guys like that. If you're rounding out a young lineup Haniger be the kind of player to add. That's why I felt they wouldn't trade him. People weren't considering the value he had for that Mariners. One thing about the dodgers, they seem to change their positions. That seems like an angle to how they keep adding

Then keep filling 1-2 vacancies per year with free agents instead of prospects.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:56 amI just have a hard time buying that this organization will develop. Let me save you the time, "As if they'll spend on free agents, or be able to talk them in to coming here."
Talking with you is like a merry-go-round because you're so jaded that they're not going to ever figure anything out. Because it's a surprise to you that we're contending.
Guess what Mike, we have a good team. They're not going anywhere. But UP.

Again, you saying it doesn’t make it true. You think the young guys will hit, I have seen very little evidence to support that. You say we will sign big time free agents, I say when teams are sellers at the deadline when only one game out? Big name free agents might take notice.
Again, you say they are good because guys that don’t hit will, and guys that aren’t here will be. Yet I am dopey.
Oh, and we aren’t contending...at least won’t be soon. But, as you have said so many times, they did that on purpose, and it is fine because? Guys that aren’t here will be and guys that don’t hit will.

There is the patience thing, and I do think it's really what this organization has lacked more than anything. It's the irony of the situation, the more impatient it becomes, the longer the drought lasts.
Not to name check but I remember dtrain being pretty derisive of the white Sox rebuild. Yeah they struggled for awhile. But then they got good

I'm saying we're where we are, contending, with the bats as is.
They don't have to improve. We need to add a Cruz level bat around them (and an ace) and never reach down for guys like Braden Bishop any longer that dragged the team down further than they should be.
