I'm glad Dipoto pointed out his chances to make the roster depend what they do in the offseason. I hope they don't make it easy on him, Mitch is only here 1 year and we should be fighting for the playoffs, not experimenting with more kids, even if they "aren't like other prospects we've had".
Yeah but it sounds like JD envisions a scenario where it would be easy. Like if they don't add to the OF he's in like flint.
Well, no shit! He's a stud and I don't understand why there are so many fans here and on twitter who think he's not ready. They just see him in AA, they don't see the numbers or his at bats. They look at level and not how he's dominating. They look at his age and lump him in with every other below avg player at that age.

No, this dude is different. Dipoto knows that. I know it and the rest of you better realize

Well JD also said his chances depend on off season acquisitions which sounds like he could be blocked...at least temporarily.

There's what he said and what he's prepared to do. They aren't blocking JRod because there is no blocking this kid. He'll take a job from KLew or Haniger or whomever, however it has to be done.

Mark it down: JRod will be on the 26-man OD roster.

They will keep him down for service time reasons if nothing else.

"Opening Day" Roster....oh thank God!

I thought you meant the "overdose" roster. What a relief!

Jerry, sounds like they might be willing to block him
“Some of whatever opportunity is available to him on the front end is going to be dictated by what we're able to do in the offseason,” Dipoto said. “Our team is going to look a little different on opening day of Spring Training 2022 than it looks today, so where the pieces fall between now and then will go a long way toward determining what the front-end opportunity looks like with Julio. But I would be stunned if Julio doesn't play a role, and a pretty significant role, in our 2022 season.”
