Another Sodo trade idea
Another Sodo trade idea
M's send Streckenrider and Dunn
Phillies trade ALEC Bohm 3B/1B
https://sodomojo.com/2021/10/14/mariner ... -phillies/
I am not really excited. If it was last year, sure.
2020 .338 .400 .481 .881 in 44 games rookie debut
2021 247 .305 .342 .647 in 115 games
And the defense is supposed to be bad.
Streckenrider is one of our pen studs. 209 ERA+ finished as our saves leader
Dunn had 11 starts of 111 ERA+ and trended up in metrics.
But Bohm was ranked 34 in 2019 former #3 overall. He did have the nice 44 game debut. Forgive me if I don't look at BABIP fueled and likely honeymoon period before the "book" comes out.
I could do it. I might not. Part of the reason we were playing above our heads is the lockdown BP.
But now, I am going to be pot committed to acquiring an Ace via free agency and additional upgrades. I would go Scherzer-Rodin-RAy, and maybe even double-dip for 2 aces. IN addition, I would need one of the elite bats. Freddie Freeman, and then Schwarber. And I want Paxton on a make-good for the BP.
Rotation
player Arm ERA+
1. Scherzer R 160
2. RODON or RAY L 140
3. Flexen R 115
4. Marco L 105
5. Gilbert R 90 but 2.7 ERA last month
Lineup
1. Crawford SS L 100
2. France 2B R 125
3. Freddie Freeman L 1B 135
4. Haniger OF R 125
5. Schwarber DH L 135
6. Lewis OF R 120
7. JK OF L ( hard to project but last 28 days .902 OPS 150 OPS+ or so) Lets say 120
8. Murphy C R 100
9. Toro vs Bohm 3B S or R
Bench Dilly, Toro, Cal or Torrens, Fraley, Eventually JRod. I know somebody gets hurt every year so there is some proven depth and expected improvement.
Freeman 25M, Schwarber 15M, Scherzer 40M Ray or Rodon 25
To me it is not a good fit. The BP always has 2 or 3 guys down so it is hard to justify making two holes. Dunn with a 111 ERA+ can be a bridge to Brash- Hancock- Kirby. But I like that nice cheap salary for an expected contributor. To improve on a 111 ERA+ arm with top prospects chomping at the bit you have to get a TOR a #1 or #2. Rodon has a 183 ERA+ this year but had 4 years of 103 ERA+ career before 2 years of 80 era+ 41 innings injured and then CY. Ray has a career of 11.2 k/9 and a 154 ERA+ and he had a 163 and 117 before but is only a 110 ERA+ career so some clunkers as well.
To me this trade is clunky for a number of reasons. PAss. A tear too late.
I'd rather do either of the 2 Twins scenarios.

Re: Another Sodo trade idea
Freddie Freeman has said that he can't imagine playing anywhere else. It'll be hard to pry him from Atlanta. Not impossible, but at what point does throwing "x" amount of dollars to play on the opposite side of the country become nonsensical?Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:49 amM's send Streckenrider and Dunn

Terms of projecting lewis to the outfield next season, Dipoto isn't doing it
.“I think we have to go into next season planning on whatever Kyle is able to deliver is a bonus for us,” Dipoto said. “He's had a really rough go here with his knee, and through no fault of his own, missed a good part of this season. He'll be a huge part of what we do, but we can't push very hard on the pencil until we see him play.”

Amazing that you have access to the same info in the PI that I have in Boston but those in WA seem to not have it available.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 6:44 amTerms of projecting lewis to the outfield next season, Dipoto isn't doing it

Yankee trade idea. I would do it in heart beat. That Oswaldo dude had a short stint in AAA. In nine games he hit .500 (15-30) with 5 walks and 5 bombs.

Re: Another Sodo trade idea
I kind of wonder if Urshela is a non-tender candidate. He's not really very good and the Yankees are right up against the luxury tax. Cabrera could be a major league player at some point, but probably not an impact player. He might be gettable in a separate deal if you really like him, just because of 40-man crowding.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 2:02 pmYankee trade idea. I would do it in heart beat. Yeah Cabrera is probably another Toro. Main reason I like it is getting rid of Kikuchi.

Re: Another Sodo trade idea
I think it makes sense to watch what's going on in NY because of this sort of unique situation they're in with the luxury tax. The Yankees aren't used to having to make payroll-related choices. Looking at their projected 2022 payroll, I think Gerritt Cole was the wrong dude to give $36 mil to. And no other team would pay a DH $30 mil per year. And they fucked up shoveling all that money to DJ LeMahieu. Then there's the $15 mil to Zack Britton and $18 mil to Chapman, who's been good but seems to be starting his decline. It just kind of goes on and on. The Yankees really aren't smart with their money.
