The atmosphere at T-Mobile
I watched part of two of the Yankee-Dodger games in Los Angeles this past weekend, and it was a World Series atmosphere there. Even though the Dodger bats were quiet, their fans were into the game and noisy most of the time. Plus there were Yankee fans there too which added to the fun (and no, the Dodger fans didn't attack them, that's a Dodgers-Giants thing). On top of it, John Turturro owned the ninth inning of the third game. Even in losing two out of three, those Dodger fans had a great time.
Meanwhile, Mariner games are the worst they've even been crowd-wise. Now, while there were games in the early days that only drew a few thousand, at least those fans cheered loudly when the team did something. This season it has been ridiculously quiet at the ballpark, and even when a Mariner hits a game-tying or go-ahead home run, it's barely louder than when Rory McElroy drains a five-foot putt during the second round of the AT&T Pro/Am.
Our fan base seems to be about as dead as it can get. Does anyone here go to the home games and just get a sense of total apathy?

No I pretty much lost all desire to watch sporting events in person. Just sold all of my Seahawks season tickets.

I have noticed it quieter when I have gone (over the past couple of seasons). I have only been to 1 game this year, and it was pretty quiet! I think it may have to do with ownership saying this season really doesn't matter, since they said they are playing for 2020 or 2021. To me, this says "we don't care about this year," which makes me not want to care either. Not sure if that is ringing true for other fans, and might just be me.

But stadium quietude was not the reason you sold your Seahawk tickets. Don't tell me you bought a season pass to the Dragons' games???

I think that most of our fan base isn't even aware of this.franson247 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 9:23 pmI have noticed it quieter when I have gone (over the past couple of seasons). Really? Well, it is a hassle getting in and out of the stadium, it costs a small fortune, and it's too freaking cold up there and too freaking hot down here. That game against the Rams we went to at the Clink a few years ago? FUUUUUUUUUUUU**, it was freezing!
The TV room is nice and warm (or cool), and the only thing the cameraman has to do is not be fooled by the play-fake.
Re: The atmosphere at T-Mobile
Wait, are you implying that there's a more vibrant atmosphere when two of the best and most popular teams play against each other compared to Mariners home games (20 games under 500, rebuilding, and not 1/10th the popularity of Dodgers/Yankees)?
I was at a Mariners game a couple seasons ago, when there were only a couple games left and they were only a game back of the 2nd wildcard. It was a playoff atmosphere. Loud crowd, reacting to every pitch... We are not in that situation now and it would actually be strange if T-Mobile was packed with rowdy Mariners fans. Nothing's currently at stake, so even the fans who show up have very little reason to burn calories cheering all game long.
You're comparing the Super Bowl to a regional Connect-4 tournament.
At least we're not Tampa Bay, they can't get crowds even when they're good.

Given the opportunity costs of selling the ticks, round trip Ubers, food and drink, its about $750 for 3 hours. Only way I am spending $750 for three hours of entertainment is if at least 3 SeaGALS (not Seahawk dancers) are involved. Throw in the logistical nightmare vs. having a party at home with friends and it makes zero sense.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 9:46 pmReally? Re: The atmosphere at T-Mobile
I probably should have expounded further. I caught the ninth inning of an Orioles game a couple weeks ago and down by one run in the ninth, their fans made a lot of noise in an effort to push the team over the top. Our fans don't do that. They certainly didn't do it last night with a chance to beat the Yuckees.Millikin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 10:07 pmWait, are you implying that there's a more vibrant atmosphere when two of the best and most popular teams play against each other compared to Mariners home games (20 games under 500, rebuilding, and not 1/10th the popularity of Dodgers/Yankees)?
