It’s Dipoto’s fault for building a team that relies heavily on guys like Haniger and Lewis staying healthy after repeatedly proving they cannot.

Who could have predicted they would miss the majority of the season?
Dip also has a massively hard time cutting guys loose that he thought were going to be key players like Toro for example.
Yeah, but he seems willing to move on from crummy pitchers that he brings in that aren't producing/or are injured and some that he shelled out bucks for.

Joel Peralra
Joaquin Benoit
Rafael Montero
Mark Rzepcynzki (sp?)

It's seems to be the position prospects that show some promise but cannot produce consistently that he has a hard time moving on from.

It is my understanding that Lewis has no meniscus in his knee which I can relate to. I once asked my Doctor why they couldn't do for knees what they do for boobs. He laughed and said the joint is in constant movement and they can't come up with a gel that would last.

Was it surgically removed? I thought he just tore it.

He underwent surgery to repair a tear in his meniscus, how could they repair a tear if it's not there?

The repaired it, which is why there was a longer recovery. If they just removed the damaged part, the recovery would be better, but the long term prognosis likely not as good.

Doesn't it seem like if you aren't 100% or close to it after 14 months you never will be?

One might tend to think that.

I believe they repaired it, which I would guess means they stitched the tear back together, right? With mine they just cut out the damaged tissue, which is usually how one becomes bone on bone; there is just no cartilage left.

I had initial surgery in 74 which was pre scope. They just took everything out. I kept playing and coaching hoops until the early 2000's. Finally had the knee replaced in 2013 and have been pain free since. I never had any ligament damage. Wasn't Lewis's initial injury a "triad" where he blew all the ligaments? With all that I would doubt he has much miniscus left. Whatever the case my guess is his knee isn't a pretty picture which will probably get worse with daily wear and tear. I feel sorry for him cause he appears to be a great kid with talent.

The triad is ACL (needs repaired) MCL (usually breaks on its own) and meniscus (can repaired it, or clean up the torn out potion).
