On a different, but related note - does anyone think Evan White will be on the 40 man roster in April? It may be too early to tell, and it's just spring training after all, but he does seem to have his head a little less up his ass at the plate.

Absolutely, unless he gets injured or traded he’ll be on the 40 man all year

He definitely is on the payroll.
Notice how his yearly salary doubles after this season.

If he could hit for league average and keep his stud glove at 1B, he'd be a huge asset, and would free us up to move Ty around the infield a little.

That's a big if given how well (or bad) he was hitting before his injuries 2 years ago.

We've carried way worse on the 40 in just the last two years, so there's no way they drop Evan White when they're paying him all that money.

Please, god, don't let him be an albatross around our necks! I really hope he spent a couple of years figuring out which end of the bat to swing.

You mean an albatross because of his salary? On the one hand, it's not that much money by MLB standards, though it is a lot of money to pay a player if he can't contribute at the MLB level. However, if you want to look at the upside with White, it's quite possibly 60 power, 80 field and lets say 50 arm and 50 run, though maybe he's a bit slower after the injury. If you can add a 45/50 hit tool to that, you have a useful player that might be a league average offensive first baseman. And maybe the hit tool will pop up for 2-3 years in his prime. I still wouldn't have drafted him in the first round or given him that contract, but there's an upside scenario that's at least plausible.
