Great piece by Gustafson here highlighting the horrible success rate in the development of hitters. This could have been rectified to a large extent by signing a big FA bat or two but they refused so they go through season with their offensive pants down looking like completely incompetent clowns.

Wouldn't it be logical to question the approach they are asking the players to take at the plate when virtually every single one of them is underperforming? And the main one that isn't went outside the organization to seek help with his own. That would seem to suggest that they are screwing up their own players mentally by asking them to do something that either doesn't work when properly executed or doesn't fit their skillsets.
In an interview Scott said, "the players aren't realizing the times where it calls for situational baseball."

The logical follow up for any sports journalist with a brain, "so is that something the manager can relay to the player prior to the at bat? that this is indeed a situational moment?"

Instead... they move on to asking questions about City Connect jersey's and if JP Crawford taking 1 walk in the game was super impressive.

Just too obvious for them to understand and accept I guess.

They NEVER ask follow up questions. Like when Jerry said to they would ask elite SSs to move to 2B for JP. The OBVIOUS follow up question would have been, do you think that will diminish your chance of landing one?????????????????????????????

But it was NEVER asked by ANY media member EITHER off season. It is journalistic malpractice.

Hahahahaa! I just Google image searched “babe Ruth mariners” to see if anyone had memed it yet. That image came from some other site from years ago that was created for some other post on some other topic. So the image already existed - my photoshop skills aren’t that mad.

And for the record, you have 209 more followers than I do. ;)

Members of the LO Pod are now calling for JP Crawford to be the lone positional AS for the M's. They say it would be "so good for this organization" for JP to be the one who represents us at T-mobile, "it will mean so much more to JP than Kelenic."

He's only being considered because the massive drop off after Franco and Bichette leaves Pena and Witt Jr (who are ahead of JP in fWAR).

Who said the mariners weren't cheap? Why does justice need to appease fans? It's funny how whenever you bring up a direct quote of the person in question the rebuttal is they are lying. If you don't want to believe justice is still a Yankee because he likes being a Yankee that is certainly up to you

“They made a significant offer that kind of blew everybody else out of the water,” Judge said. The offer was for more than $400 million. Two other sources briefed on the matter said it was in the range of $415 million, over a term that would have been at least 12 years. Judge was taken aback. The Padres’ proposed guarantee was nearly $100 million higher than the Yankees’.
9/$360 is a way better deal than 12/$415. Better AAV and he doesn't have to worry about sitting there when he's 42 pissing off fans because he can barely walk to first.

Miguel Cabrera's options vested and he's owed $60 million over the next 2x seasons where he'll be 41 and 42. Last 2x seasons he's been worth about a .600 OPS, 70 OPS+, and -2.0 WAR... and he's only getting worse.
If he'd rather retire than have the opportunity to earn an additional $55 mil then it sounds to me there are things he considers more important than just money which was my point in the first place

Ridic. JP is SEVENTH in fWAR. How is the 7th best SS out of 15 and AS?????

Somebody has to be an all star, is there a more obvious choice?
