How does a team start 13-2 and then go 9-23
By having a GM/coach that think platoons are good and that jerking guys in and out of the lineup regularly whether they're healthy or not is a good idea.

Tell me how Mallex Smith in the lineup over Vogey made us a better team tonight. It wasn't? Exactly.

There's an answer, but it's like a case study because nothing comparable has ever been done, and we're talking 150 years of major league baseball here.

Just realized that while Healy and Smith don't get errors for not making plays that major league players should make (but they're tough plays so by the letter of the law the scoring of hit is correct), Santana makes an accurate throw that with an in-between hop bangs off Murphy's glove and he gets stuck with an unfair error. That's seven errors on the season for Santana, on pace for about 25 or so. The last time an outfielder made that many errors in a season he was wearing a Rawlings Mordecai Brown model glove.

Marco kind of fell apart there, but if Healy catches that first one which every other first baseman in the game would have caught he probably works out of it. No unearned runs but again a case of the defense not being good enough.

And as for Crawford, can we have just ONE call-up do well? Half the Yankees go on the IL and their rookies all step up and play winning baseball. Hell, even Jesus Montero hit when he wore pinstripes.
When was the last time we had a call-up, who was plugged in for an injured guy, and hit say .275 over the first 20 games?

This has the makings of a long game fellas. The M's... hit this guy? I doubt it.
