I could see Ford going in this deal but I don't think the Mariners would trade Felnin.

It is a tough one to fathom.

Luis enters with a 105 OPS+ and has only played in 12 games.
His 4 previous years he averages an 82 games season and 3.2 WAR 124 OPS+.
You do get the prime year+/- options that are not bargains.

His War discounts a bit because either he or Julio get bumped off a premium CF vs the corner. If you add in Mitch H. to the package I could do it now. You would replace a really poor defender, the worst inn the league with a premium one. Both Luke Raley and Luis R are at 28.7 FPS (ranked at #61)and they would flank Julio 29.7 FPS ranked #9. Mitch runs a 26.1 FPS.

Robert can also provide some steals. He had 20/24 in 145 games in 2023. This line-up works for me:
1. JP* SS
2. Rojas* 3B
3. Julio CF
4. Robert OF
5. Raley OF
6. Cal** C
7. Garver DH
8. France/Locklear 1B
9. Polanco/Moore 2B

Bench is Dilly, Canzone, Bliss, Zeby

The two options are 20M with 2M buyouts

The Mariners might prefer to give up Cole Young over Harry Ford, and this could work for the White Sox as well. Their top prospect is Colson Montgomery but reading the blurbs on him it sounds like he won't be a shortstop in the majors.

The Mariners would obviously prefer to give up as little as possible, but since there's likely to be some bidding from multiple teams, the market will determine what the White Sox ultimately get back. I've come up with three possible packages that I think represent the spectrum of value that could be in play.

Note: the numbers in parentheses are the player's ranking within the org according to MLB Pipeline.

Package #1 - the lightweight option

1) Harry Ford (2) or Cole Young (1)
2) Tai Peete (7)
3) Luis Suisbel (27)

Package #2 - A bit heavier

1) Harry Ford (2) or Cole Young (1)
2) Logan Evans (19)
3) Michael Morales (12)

Package #3 - the boatload

1) Harry Ford (2) or Cole Young (1)
2) Tai Peete (7)
3) Emerson Hancock
4) Michael Morales (12)
5) Luis Suisbel (27)

With these packages, I'm assuming the Mariners will make Emerson, Montes, Farmelo, and Celesten off limits. I really wonder what their thinking is with Harry Ford but I'm assuming here that he's available in the right deal.

I’d prefer giving up going to Celestin. Mariners aren’t going to go out and party for a high end player in FA, and not likely to trade for one either. Celestin has the highest ceiling of any prospect from a speed, power, hit, position value. I take the chance on him and give up the higher floor, lower ceiling guy, cause you aren’t going to regret that trade for a decade like you might with Celestin.

Yeah, Celestin might not work out, but I don’t trade him I unless it’s a multi player package for a top 10 type hitter.

Not only that, but I don't see why the CHW would want an 18 yo, at least 3 years away from doing anything serious at MLB level, when they can get players closer, more projectable to the bigs because, uh, they're at AA or AAA

He makes a case for Robert and there's the Castillo trade as a comp. You know Dipoto is really proud of the Castillo trade, called it the best trade he's ever made. There's no reason he wouldn't try it again. He's not shy to trade. They could target Robert for an extension, core piece like they did Castillo. Not right away since they have the control seasons

Could see them wanting to make up for the Tatis trade
