6/14/24 Mariners vs Rangers kick Heaney in the weenie game thread

Post by DavidGee24 » Fri Jun 14, 2024 5:56 pm

Since I don't have a clever play on words for the Rangers' starting pitcher, Andrew Heaney (Heaney the Meaney? Hell no), let's make this a multi-faceted thread.

Our six starting pitchers have a combined won/lost record of 24-24. As good as they've been and considering we're 40-31, that is just really weird. Even in realizing that virtually nobody pays attention to won/lost records for pitchers any more, that's a damning testament to how little run support they get and a good testament as to how good our offense can be when the pressure gets turned up late in games. That our starting pitchers rarely let games get away and it usually pays off can't be ignored.

I have to say this, though: Luis Castillo is having a solid season, but he's still not better than he was when he was with the Reds. Why is it that hitters come to T-Mobile and have big drops in production, but starting pitchers come to T-Mobile and don't pitch better? Especially Robbie Ray, he should have been like Cliff Lee in that one season we had him.

Also, I still marvel at the fact that not only did the Mariners ON PURPOSE seek out and sign the worst hitter (0-32) in the history of T-Mobile Park, but that Mitch Garver actually decided he wanted to play for us. Did he really not get any good offers from other teams?

Even though the Rangers are feeling good after taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, let's knock them down, fart on their heads, and increase our lead. WHO'S WITH ME? YAAAAAAAAAAAA

EDIT: bhofferb came up with an ingenious game thread title and I changed it. I knew I should have went further up the alphabet than "m".

Also, thought you guys might like this, did it at the Orange County Fair a few years ago.

Damn, it's right-side up on my phone, no idea why it looks like this when posted. Hope it's not a bad omen for tonight's game.

Nice! I would hit you in the 5 hole of our lineup and you probably have a higher OPS than most of those jokers..

Dude, you missed on “Kick Heaney in the weenie”. And you could have added “and fart on his head” if desired😀

5-5 with 3 doubles last night in the championship game for my Thursday night team. Ended up 37-41 (.902) on the season. How do you think that would transfer over to Major League Baseball?

And I might have a higher OPS just because I'd crowd the plate and say to the catcher, "See that T-Mobile sign out there? Watch me Roy Hobbs that m*****f*****".

I knew my lazy ass should have gone further up the alphabet than "m". It's like on the Simpsons when Marge was pregnant with Bart and they were trying to name him, and Homer, not wanting his son's name made fun of, went "Cart...Dart...Eart......okay, Bart it is!"

That is insane man. That is like a Bowler having a 287 average.

Oops, actually 35-39 (.898) so take a few pins off there. Funny thing is, while I took the league batting title, coming into the game our 2-hitter was 33-36 but went 3-5 to finish at 36-41 (.878). We hit .734 as a team and went 10-0. We're kind of loaded. :D

So your team BA would be a top OPS for the M's. Maybe SS can ask opposing pitchers to throw Underhanded.

Except the way this team hits off-speed we'd frequently get Humber'd. :D
