https://www.si.com/mlb/braves/news/time ... j82tsty7d3It's a shame to see a once-promising prospect struggle to find consistency in MLB. Maybe Kelenic will get his act together next season after getting some work in during spring training. That would make for a great story. He's still 25. You never know.

Some prospects fail. It is an old tune.
Jeremy Reed
Miguel Olivo
Jeff Clement
D Hultzen
D Ackley
Smoak
M Saunders
Casper Wells
Jesus Montero
Carlos Triunfel
Stefen Romero
Miller
Taylor
There are countless what could have beens, ones that got away: Taylor, Marte, etc. And even guys that largely failed had their moments Ackley had nearly 8 WAR// Smoak/s best year here was a 20 HR 113 OPS+ which is ok but as a Jay he would drop 38 bombs and a 131 OPS+.

Re: A final 2024 look at the JK trade
Poor lil fella.
Took the NL a couple months to find his weak spots but it was over for him once they did.
Glad he's no longer our problem.
If they had gotten a guy like Raley any time from 2021-2023 instead of handing the at bats to Kelenics dumbass, the team probably makes the playoffs every season. Barely missed each time.
And then they rode with his weak bat into (and out of) the playoffs when they did make it. So stupid.

I know that what was so crazy. He was the worst hitting OFer in history his first two seasons but 90% of the fanbase were sure he was going to be an All Star and it was impossible he could be one of the thousands of prospects that have failed.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:19 amSome prospects fail. Which means he'll be a Pirate or Ranger in 2025, right? Or toiling in an Indie league on the east coast.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:08 pmJust amazing. Have we seen the last of Jared Kelenic?
Or will he break out in 2025?
What an enigma he is.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Exactly! And it wasn't just the fan base!D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:06 pmI know that what was so crazy. It was Jerry Dipoto and his band of merry dumbasses in the front office that he now says will be evaluating their evaluation techniques!!
Kelenic's presence instead of going after a good outfielder on the market cost us big time from 2021-2023 imo.
How many times did the homers try and shame us by acting like the team had some all-wise, all-knowing evaluation system.
Now they have to re-evaluate because they've sucked so badly.

Seattle Media turning up the heat but I doubt anyone cares....

Re: A final 2024 look at the JK trade
Just mind-blowing that anyone would think that someone who starts his career that badly would turn out to be a solid MLB player when it literally never in 165 years has happened, with probably Matt Williams coming the closest among position players. Just for JK to even reach the heights of being a below-average to average player is remarkable.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:06 pmI know that what was so crazy.
